Dixie/Conner scrimmage

Featured Replies

I think the majority of NKY fans know Dixie will have a fine squad. Defending district champions if memory serves me correct, being the top team in NKY shouldn't really be a goal, being the best AAAA team in NKY should.

Suprise is exactly the word that should be used. You amd your fellow Colonel fans may be excited but if you asked everyone in Northern Ky who the top teams would be, Dixie (right or wrong) probably would not get mentioned. Dont mean to hurt your feelings but that is the truth. That is why you keep hearing the word suprised. As far as the district champs, (a district that is weak year in year out). With all that said as my previous post said, Dixie should be good, what I saw I was impressed with. I wish them the best of luck. Dont get your feelings hurt when the word suprised is used, lay low and go kick some BIRD butt.

I'm sorry, but I'm still lost by your reasonings. If you followed NKY football at all last year, you'd know what the teams have coming back this year. Dixie has their core players returning, Boone has their core players returning, and Highlands has their core players returning, along with a couple other teams. All these teams faired well last year. Therefore, there's no "surprise" in what they bring to the table. The definition of "surprise" is to encounter suddenly or unexpectedly; take or catch unawares: to attack or capture suddenly without warning. Everyone knows what Dixie has returning, therefore, they are not going to catch people unexpectedly. Last year, they were surprising quite a few people, including myself as they lost a LOT of seniors. The same can be said for Boone. However, when you return almost everyone, there's NO surprise. When the top 10 comes out prior to the season, Dixie will most likely be in the top 5 with Highlands, CCH, NCC, and Boone based on what these teams did last year and what they return. Ryle may even slip in their too.

Also, how do you "lay low" when you're defending champs? I'm not saying this in an arrogant or boastful way, but when you're defending champs the bullseye is on your back. It's on NCC's and Highland's back too. Everyone is aiming for you.

Dixie was ranked #1 in NKY three or four years ago for most of the year . Are you saying that all of NKY was weak then ? Since the district is weak year in and out .

Why would these two teams scrimmage each other ? Aren't they both 4a schools in the same district? Just thought that this is kind of odd.

Dixie used to scrimmage Holy Cross 2 or 3 yrs ago, when they where just starting to get things going . At the time it wasn't pretty , so they picked up Conner for alittle more even teams . They don't play until mid-season again so it doesn't really matter .

Who was the qb for Conner? Who was the tailback that ran fairly well early on?

With that one statement you show your ignorance. You know nothing of 4A football. I'll trust my Rock friends to know whether or not we have had any good teams over you.

Just out of curiousity, what team do you root for?

Honest answer,

1. These two coaches are very good friends.

2. Neither wanted to travel for a scrimmage game.

3. Both needed a beefier opponent to prepare for the grueling season ahead.

4. Playing in week one of the scrimmage season will not tell either one anything about the other they don't already know.

These guys use this for exactly what it is for, to evaluate personnel against a quality opponent. Not to polish the play book. By now, both have seen all the other has + or - a few last minute adjustments that they will make prior to the district game. This game is worthless from a game planning perspective.
