The questioned non over and back was a definite BB player that deflected the ball off Maddox's knee into backcourt which Panthers recovered. Great aggressive effort by Code to make the call for the refs, just didn't intimadate them this time.

Augusta was the deserved winner tonight. Still think BB is one of top teams in 10th. Very well coached, work hard, but golly Mustangs..."4th qtr FTs".

 

But you got to love those Augusta Panthers. They are the hardest working, bluest collared, 5 guard team in 10th. Can't say enough about these guys! When they bring their A game, they are dangerous. Give these seniors a 6'5" seasoned big man and they would go deep at Rupp. Coach Kirk is a winner and is a warrior like like his Panther team.

Team control in front court (if player was dribbling then that's met)

Offense was last to touch in the front court (hitting off leg and no one else touching it meets this)

Offense was first to touch in backcourt (sounds like it was)

 

Am I right on all 3 of those? If so, violation. Did the officials possibly miss that the ball hit the dribbler's leg?

When BB trapped for the steal, Maddox lost control. BB had multiple hands swiping and touching the ball with Conner no longer in control. As he tried to regain control BB hands clearly hit it off his leg into backcourt. Contested recovery by Maddox in backcourt, I am 90% sure he was first touch there.

10th Region basketball at its usual unpredictable best. Augusta Panthers upset Brossart Mustangs that never led in the game. Panthers solid with 4th qtr pressure FTs by Crawford, Maddox, and front end conversion by Pugh and Laycock. Brossart 6 of 13 from the line on the night. Very good victory for Panthers.

Great game for the Augusta panthers

They controlled the game all night from start to finish. Really wouldn't have been as close as score looks if not for a bad technical foul called on Cam Sapp who did nothing to deserve it . This five point swing made it interesting down the stretch. Whole second half Augusta was up any where from 7 - 12 points. Connor Maddox hitting bombs and Cam Sapp plays with the most heart and effort every night against centers taller and bigger every game works his tail off. Great job panthers.

It was a swarm and I am not sure ref had clear position, could have missed off leg visually. But it happened. No question it was knocked off Maddox leg by swarming BB so Augusta was definitely last touch. Another swarm to recover and I feel 90% certain that Maddox was first touch in backcourt. The distance and swarming only varied about 10 ft, so same ref could have a blocked visual in both instances.

 

Just saying it sounds like a probable missed call based on what you have said Clyde. Good to know the rules before we insert foot in mouth.

Got the scoop. Snapp, team captain and one normally designated to talk to refs, had been told by ref earlier to stop questioning calls. Post #14 quotes exactly what transpired. Ref at critical point in game, made the decision he wasn't going to hear anything more from Snapp that hinted at questioning him. Hummmmmm! Great kid, respectful, sure he will learn from this.

Team control still exists. Simplification of the rule, on offense, the last to touch in frontcourt cannot be the first to touch in backcourt....as long as team control exists.

To me It was a 50/50 call. Lots of bodies flying around in a scrappy game. No issues from this fan as I had hoped for a favorable call but did not get it. I'm assuming the ref who was in position had a better angle and made the right call. Didn't think anything of the call to be quite honest. Play went on.

Snapp and a few others seemed to question a lot of calls and Kirk had been spoken too earlier in the game. Oldercoaches explain action of the T makes sense. With the small sidelines it is funny to see both coaches coaching from the floor. Code in his normal squat position and I often thought Kirk was halfway out on the court. He does a good job down there.

100% of what I saw. Officials did a great job and this thread should not be about them. It should be about 2 scrappy teams who should scare the living hell out of whomever faces them in the districts or region.
