1st game upsets

You may be correct about the number of returning starters. Either way, it may be a difference without a distinction. Having said all of this, and with tongue firmly in cheek, I venture to state that St. X will head down to Bowling Green, show up for the game, and tried to stumble through it in a manner that hopefully avoids abject humiliation. If X can hold the margin of defeat to within thirty-five points, would you consider the game a successful venture?:D By the way, this is not a sandbag free zone.

Sounds about right to me! :thumb: :D :thumb:

While you could be right, I think Male typically doesn't want to show much off at the begining of the season. Of course, neither does X, so again, you could be right.

Neither does Hopkinsville. The first 3-4 games Hoptown runs maybe 10-20% of their offense. Defensively they showcase a small amount of their packages. About week 4-5 the staff cracks the whip and does more. They treat the season like a marathon not a forty yard dash. It's all about peaking late and not early.

3. One recent article selected the top twenty-five football players in the state this year. Of those twenty-five, three or four played for Bowling Green and one for St. X.
St. Xavier's edge won't be in star power; it will be in depth, especially given the likely weather conditions.

4. This game is a rematch of last year’s opener and Bowling Green gave St. X all they could handle before falling just short. Bowling Green returns a number of starters; St. X. returns three starters.
Three returning starters at St. Xavier equals quite a bit more for most other teams. The Tigers will have plenty of talent and depth at their disposal.
Time to get up to speed on modern warfare, Pep. Sandbags, even when filled with re-inforced concrete, are useless in this day of "bunker-busting bombs." As I noted above, the Purples have four of these bombs to only one for the Tigers, plus we are venturing deep into their home territory. Bowling Green has installed "Bouncing Betty" mines in numerous areas beneath the WKU turf field, and only they are privy to their exact locations. I feel like I have just received an invitation to a Shock-and-Awe Party in the Roman Colosseum, where I am the Christian and they are the Lion...WHOA IS ME!! :scared:
Oxnard is standing at least waist-deep in something, and it isn't sandbags.

From what I'm hearing about how good Mercer County (merged) is going to be, if LCA stays within a few touchdowns, that will be considered an upset.

With that attitude I certainly hope the big "R" in your avatar does not represent "Orange Country".But in all honesty, I think I know it belongs," just a little farther up the road".

Its not attitude. Its an honest opinion. Personally, I would like to see Raceland upset them. Just don't see that happening though.

:thumb: I respect your opinion.

I have not heard anything yet about Trinity's first opponent, Montgomery Bell. Any insight on their talent this year? Who is the favorite, and, is there a potential upset?

I think the rock faithful have been busy concentrating on Coach G's commments and not on this upcoming season opener..... You may have stumped them there.... What is the scoop on MBA Credit Card HS??

Pikeville over HC in the Pike co. bowl. LOL! (I wish but probably not)

MBA is picked (by league coaches) fifth out of 8 teams in Tennessee's largest private class, Division II-AAA. This is the first time in probably the past decade they haven't been picked one or two. Number five may be low, but one or two would be too high this year, IMO. The Big Red returns five offensive and four defensive starters.

Manual's first opponent, Brentwood Academy, was picked first in the league.

Wowzers... I hope Tennessee is having a really, really, really down year. Really.

Before you start with the quips about a school like MBA you might want to know that they stomped the Tigers pretty good back in the fifties. Credit Card indeed.

MBA beating Trinity would not be an upset. Bowling Green beating St.Xavier would not be an upset.
