spindoc Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 .. to abstain from voting altogether? I've never not voted, however, I would strongly consider not voting before voting for either Hillary or Trump. I think they'd both be nightmares for our country in their own respective ways. So, would I be better off choosing neither? I've openly admitted that I've voted for the lesser of the evils before, sadly, but these 2 may be neck and neck. What if there is no "lesser" as an option?
UKMustangFan Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 There's always another option. Vote 3rd party.
Clyde Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Fair question and one I've been pondering. However, I've also come to realize that my vote is a gesture of my freedom moreso than actually having any say in the POTUS election.
spindoc Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 There's always another option. Vote 3rd party. IF there is a 3rd party. If the clown from NY runs, pass.

spindoc Posted January 25, 2016 Author Posted January 25, 2016 There's always a 3rd party. If there's not a 3rd party you like, write one in. Now that's an option. An unfruitful one, but it's surely an option.
Hellcats Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Now that's an option. An unfruitful one, but it's surely an option. If you live in KY it doesn't matter. This state is Red. All 8 votes are going to the Republican Party.

Clyde Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Vote for Gary Johnson. You accomplish that same by staying home and saying "Had I voted I would have voted for...."
PurplePride92 Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 You accomplish that same by staying home and saying "Had I voted I would have voted for...." No argument there but I am exercising my freedom to vote and when I exercise that freedom I am going to vote for the candidate I like the best. Not the lesser of two evils. In the grand scheme of things because of the electoral college none of our votes here in KY matter anyways.
Science Friction Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 You accomplish that same by staying home and saying "Had I voted I would have voted for...." True.
MayfieldFan Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I know this runs contrary to the opinions of most, and I almost always vote, but I don't have a problem with not voting. If a person is so disgusted with the options that "none of the above" is what they believe, then the act of not voting gives voice to that. We should have "none of the above" as an option btw, and just keep doing the election over til they give us someone who can beat none of the above.

I know a popular belief is that you should vote because of the men and women who have fought for our right to do so. I'd argue they fought for our right to abstain as well if it's done in protest or disgust with the choices. Of course, I also believe they fought for the rights of the few who burn the flag so....
Science Friction Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I will vote for the first candidate that comes out and has the courage to admit hat he/she is agnostic/atheist( we've had plenty I'm sure that just haven't been forthcoming), regardless of whether the person is D or R. Of course, they won't win but they get my vote.
