Update on the first 5 connection challenges

All 5 have been completed! Great work BGP and very impressive knowledge by those who participated!!

(1) Carson Williams (Owen County) to Kobe Bryant's 81 point game - Complete

(2) Scott Ruthsatz (Cov Cath Coach) to Red Auerbach (Celtics Coach) - Complete

(3) Tommy McKenzie (Johnson Central Coach) to Jerry West - Complete

(4) Quentin Goodin (Taylor County) to Michael Jordan - Complete

(5) Tim Haworth (Hoptown Coach) to James A. Naismith - Complete

Its very interesting to see how KY High School Basketball is tied to every level. Lets throw the next 5 out there and see what happens:

The next 5 connection challenges:

(1) Mike Listerman (Holmes Head Coach) to Kareem Abul Jabbar

(2) DG Sherrill (Bowling Green Head Coach) to LeBron James

(3) Malik Dow (Mercer County) to Chris Paul

(4) Matt Wilson (Campbell County) to King Kelly Coleman (Wayland)

(5) Jaylen Sebree (Christian County) to Arvydas Saboins (former Trailblazer center)

Again, I tried to spread the questions around to various parts of the state. Good luck if you elect to keep playing and remember no more than 6 people with the two you are trying to connect counting toward your 6 (they must also be through a basketball contest - see original rules in first post).

(1) Dow played at Ballard with (2) Quentin Snider who was coached at Louisville by (3) Rick Pitino who has coached several games against Duke who was coached by (4)Coach K Who coached against Georgia Tech's (5) Chris Paul.

@Rez flexing his basketball knowledge! Very quick answer again in less than 6! @Rez with 2 correct out of the 10! 4 still open.

I wish I had some kind of award to give out for correct answers. I guess good job will have to suffice, but I am impressed how quickly people are getting these answers!

And by Georgia Tech, of course I meant Wake Forest

Here's one to try. Wayne Co Girls Sr. Bethany Peyton to Dolph Schayes

(1) Mike Listerman was an assistant coach at highlands (1977-80) and coached against (2) Dicky Beal at Holmes several times, including the Ninth Region finals in 1979. Dicky Beal played at UK against (3) Dominique Wilkins/Charles Barkley/Michael Jordan/James Worthy/Patrick Ewing (1984 Final Four)/etc., all of whom played with or against (4) Kareem Abdul Jabbar with the Lakers (most notably probably Worthy who was on the "Showtime" teams with Kareem and Magic)

Here's a fun one linking Dontaie Allen to Clyde Drexler

1) Dontaie Allen plays at Pendleton County for 2) Keaton Belcher, who, in college played Georgetown U, coached by 3) John Thompson III, who was an assistant coach at Princeton under 4) Pete Carril. Carril finished his career as an assistant coach with the Sacramento Kings under 5) Rick Edelman, who during his stint with the Blazers coached 6) Clyde Drexler

Great job! Again fewer steps than needed. You have completed 2 of the 10 as well!

Scott coached under Hurley who is in the Naismith Hall of Fame as is Auerbach

How about Nick Ruthsatz to James Naismith?

How about Nick Ruthsatz to James Naismith?

Here we go.

Nick Ruthsatz played at CCH who has assistant coach Joe Fredrick who played for Digger Phelps who coached against Dean Smith who played for Phog Allen who played for James Naismith.

Cole Von Handorf to "The" DALAI LAMA

CVH coached by Joe Frederick, who played against Calbert Chaney in college, who played against Michael Jordan in NBA, who played on same team as Bill Murray in Space Jam, who caddied for The Dalia Lama.

So Cole has that going for him . . .
