Looking to take my wife on a surprise getaway for a weekend here in the next couple weeks. I've never been so I have no idea what part to go to, etc.

I'd like a cabin or chalet up in the woods. Something nice but nothing too ridiculous.

Does anyone have a Gatlinburg hookup or at least a push in the right direction? I obviously did a search but there are a million websites to pick from and not knowing even what part to go to I'm sort of lost.

Any help would be appreciated.

20 years ago my then fiance and I had a great couples weekend in a 2 bedroom cabin on the little pigeon river. Jacuzzi with a skyview was spectacular. You can see 3/4 of the Milky Way from down there. Get up in the mtns away from town whatever you do. Have fun and safe travels! :thumb:

I meant to say Ski Mountain road, not hwy. Great area, great views, close to downtown Gatlinburg, close to the park entrance and you can take the bypass to Pigeon Forge if it's crowded in Gatlinburg. You can also drive to the top of Ski Mountain and go to Ober Gatlinburg.

Visit the distilleries on the main strip in Gatlinburg. Can you say "free samples"?

Also, look up The Mountain Lodge Restaurant for breakfast. It's off the beaten path. I would almost drive to Gatlinburg just to eat breakfast there.

I've never stayed in that area, but I think they are all pretty nice. We have always stayed near Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort, pretty high up on the mountain. But this time of year you can get snowed in up there. So the area you are looking is probably a better bet.

Thanks!

That's pretty high and a winding road pretty much like Ski Mountain.
