Mercer County Titans

Big doesn't always work, there must be a reason some of those kids sat out for several years. I think it will be a work in progress, but with 14-15 coaches, they should be able to give alot of attention to each of the kids.

RUSSELL had a HUGE line last year with Drew Mell being the biggest lineman at 6'0 240. Then I think the rest were 200 or below.

Yea size is great if they can use it.

When does Mercer Scrimmage....Where?

I know Russell will have at least one super-talented gigantic lineman next year with Seth Harvey. He was 6-5, 310 as a freshman OT for St. X. last year. Much to my surprise, I haven't heard anyone from Russell talking about him yet. Are you trying to keep him under the radar? How is he doing so far in practice?

Mercer, Jaggers and Co. will be in for a lose/lose situation...because if Mercer happens to win it all, then people will say it was unfair and if they dont win it all, Im sure people will be calling for Jaggers' head.
I think Mercer will be a good football team, but I do not see them as a state championship calibar team simply because they merged with a Harrodsburg team that won 3 games last year against 3 bad teams. Mercer themselves won their first playoff game in over 20 years last year and if i'm not mistaken, graduated a pretty strong class of seniors. I'll be surprised if Mercer wins the region and i'll be even more shocked if they beat a Belfry or Russell to get to the state championship game.

Mercer is scrimmaging Somerset at Somerset on Friday, August 4th - not sure of the time.

Mercer is scrimmaging Danville at Danville on Friday, August 11th - not sure of the time.

I didn't know that the scrimmage was at Somerset. SomersetFootball probably can give the time.

I thought scrimage was at Mercer

This heltmet was found on a Washington State high school football helmet project website. Would it be anything close to what Mercer County will be having on its helmets???

I didn't think Mercer would play russell or belfry until the finals this season?

So far the Titan report says they look REAL good.

Be interesting to see how they fair against Danville. It is easy to look tough against yourself although they do have close to 100 athletes.

I think that the scrimmage is going to be at Mercer Co.

Mercer County is in Region III, District 5. Under the old playoff system, they could have potentially played Russell in the first round or second round, or in the regional final, depending upon where each finished in the district standings. With the new format, however, they can't meet until the regional championship game, which is week 3 of the playoffs. If that game is played this season, it would be on the banks of the Ohio River in Flatwoods. Mercer couldn't play Belfry until the semi-state, which is Thanksgiving weekend. If that game is played this season, it would be in Pike County.

Even though Mercer should have a solid team this year, the road to a state championship will be extremely difficult because of where the games will be played.

This was addressed a couple months ago on here, but Mercer, under the current alignment is not going to have 4A#'s this year. Their combined enrollement will actually only be a little over 900, and thats just a guestimation at this point, it could actually be lower than that or higher..this just depends on when classes start.

Secondly, they WILL NOT be the only 2A school playing with 3A #'s for the 2006 season..a few others, Lone Oak, Lville Western and a couple more that i cant think of right off the top of my head will have larger #s.

Nelson Co. and Meade Co. back in the mid 90's, their last couple years they were in 3A and had 4A #s Boyle Co and LexCath their last couple years in 2A were playing with 3A #'s. Im sure their are others as well that have fallen into this category, and it is to noones fault, those are just ones that stand out.. It's just the way things sometimes happen.

One thing, though,(this is not directed towards you Devil58) that I can already tell, from some on this site who are ANTI-MERGER and ANTI-MERCER and Im sure from others across the state is that Mercer, Jaggers and Co. will be in for a lose/lose situation...because if Mercer happens to win it all, then people will say it was unfair and if they dont win it all, Im sure people will be calling for Jaggers' head. Which, those people are ones who have the intelligence of...well, Im just going to keep that thought to myself and end this post here!! :jump: :ylsuper:

I wasn't trying to be negative and I'm not anti-Mercer or merger...Good luck to them...I had just heard that they were going to have more numbers than 2A...I didn't see the talk about it previously so I appreciate your info...:thumb:

Somerset vs Mercer is @ Somerset and it starts at 6, however talk tonight was that it may be moved to thursday? I will try to find out tomorrow morning at practice and post it on here whether or not it will be played friday.

That logo of the fireball and the 'M', not the one you posted exactly, but similar will be used...but, it's not what will be on Mercer's helmets. One will just have to wait and see what it will be. I'll say this, it's something creative, but somewhat simple that has come from the people at Mercer themselves. The new decal will look good though. Mercer will keep their blue helmets and gray facemask look, whatever the extras, their helmets will look somethin similar to the NY Giants/the new Kansas look, etc...You'll just have to wait and see!! :jump:

I know they have been talking merger for atleast 20 years. So we have created a monster. I can't wait till it's unleashed august 19th.
