Mercer County Titans

Featured Replies

For all of the Mercer Co. faithfull I just wanted to say that I was very impressed with the new indoor practice facility. I think it was WKYT that showcased it yesterday on the news. A very classy facility, whomever did the painting on the turf did a great job...

I missed the broadcast by WKYT, I heard is was a good news clip as well..The Titans are very fortunate to have a facility of this magnitude, and to let you know, the painting is actually not a painting..it's sewn into the turf...I know, i was and still am shocked at that too. Impressive.

I am guessing there will be a huge crowd tonite for a scrimage, due to open house and first viewing of the merged team.

Who has been getting the most snaps at QB in practice?

If it is like last year, Marty won't show alot at this scrimage.

Any news or updates on how the scrimmage went tonight?

Looked like a fairly typical "sloppy" first scrimmage for both teams. Lots of fumbles and interceptions. Somerset threw the ball fairly well but didn't catch it well. Somerset seems to have a pretty good field goal kicker.

Here's the positives. I'll leave the criticism to others. Mercer's varsity scored, what, 3 TD's? However, they were mostly on busted plays. It was evident that the Mercer speed is as good as advertised. I was impressed with the vision of the RB's to see the cutback lanes like they did. Mercer's overall team speed is impressive. They seem to have a lot of depth too.

Mercer's JV's looked pretty good. The JV QB, Short, showed flashes of brilliance.

Beware making judgments based upon a scrimmage. Playcalling is very limited because you don't want to show much. It's your first full-speed look from an opponent. You don't do much opponent-specific game preparation. Go Titans!

Nice review, I would bet that Mercer Co. will be a huge contender by seasons end. Do you have any more specifics on the Jumpers.

I'll be honest, I still question the need for an indoor practice facility for a high school.

If you honestly cant see the positives that will come from having a 1st class practice facility, especially in the HS ranks, then it's not even worth wasting my time over. You definately dont need to search for high schools in Texas, California, Georgia, Florida..or else, you'll be questioned out. Go tell the people in those states that you question an indoor practice facility for a high school.

Well, while other teams miss practice due to the heat in the summer, Mercer can take it inside. Practice is where you work to get better. Also, anytime you can have an indoor practice facility, along with a weight room that would make alot of small colleges jealous, well that's just a wonderful situation to be in. If they have got the money then I don't see why there is a reason to question it.

I agree, it's great to have a facility like the one you guys have. At Boyle Co. our guys have to practice in that hot heat, but I'm happy for your guys. Hay, good luck during the season, hope your team can win State,a 14-1 record would be a great ending.;)

Hey. I would take that record any year. I don't know if we will be able to hang with Boyle County. But, this is the best chance in years to do so. There will be a huge crowd at that game.

Should be standing room only at this game!

I agree totally on the crowd. I would say an easy 8,000 people. Especially if Mercer starts the season strong.
