Top 5 Coaches In College Football Currently

Featured Replies

My List:

1a. Nick Saban

1b. Urban Meyer

3. David Shaw

4. Dabo Sweeney

5. Jim Harbaugh

Saban, Meyer, Harbaugh, Briles are my top 4 in order.

5 to me is a toss-up. Lots of coaches could fit there: Jimbo, Shaw, Patterson, Dantonio (would probably be my #5 today), Miles, Bob Stoops, Brian Kelly, Dabo. Today I think I'd put at 5. Dantonio, 6. Brian Kelly, and the rest tied at 7 (I feel they are all really similar).

As far as actually producing wins the last 10 years or so.

Saban

Meyer

Miles

Patterson

Stoops

As far as who I like going forward to join the list

Briles

Swinney

Fischer

Kelly

Helfrich

1. Saban

2. Meyer

3. Shaw

4. Dantonio

5. Miles

Miles has a championship, but he can't develop QBs or an offense. I've never been high on him.

1. Meyer

2. Saban

3. Harbaugh

4. Dantonio

5. Kelly (Yeah, I said it. Look at the depth that is in South Bend now)

Lets be honest, Les Miles hates offense, and hates qb's, and wishes he could be coaching in another era. He also has an Natty and is 112-32 at LSU.

Obviously Meyer and Saban are 1 and 2 on every list. But I really like David Shaw. He wins in a really difficult conference, and he has an added difficulty in the fact that he has to recruit players that are academically able to get into Stanford. He is a great football coach. He is an Xs and Os kind of guy who consistently beats teams with more highly touted talent than his. I know he had Luck for a year and now McCaffrey, but overall their talent level isn't the same as Oregon or USC most years, but yet they have been consistently beating those 2 teams year in and year out.

Great recruiter, great talent base

I like Shaw. His wins over Oregon are extremely impressive.

He was an OC before becoming a HC.

Nick Saban

Urban Meyer

Jim Harbaugh

David Shaw

Bill Snyder

Lots of great coaches out there, including:

Bob Stoops

Gary Patterson

Chris Petersen

Brian Kelly

Jimbo Fisher

Les Miles

Mark Dantonio

Art Briles

Larry Fedora

Charlie Strong

Bobby Petrino

Ken Niumatalolo

Paul Johnson

Troy Calhoun

and who am I forgetting...

He was an OC before becoming a HC.

He is an old OL coach and his 3 offenses scored 80th-73rd-35th in points per game.

I'm so biased against Harbaugh. His 'I'm better than you and there's nothing you can do about it' attitude makes me hate him to the core.

Yes. I said HATE. I mean it. I know it's not rational but still hate that guy.

Saban

Meyer

Shaw

Harbaugh

Sweeny
