January 11, 201610 yr The only thing the NFL can do to significantly improve the atmosphere is the one thing they'll never do.... Stop selling alcohol and don't allow people to drink alcohol while tailgating for hours before the game... When you mix large, passionate crowds with large amounts of alcohol... This stuff is going to happen...unfortunately.
January 11, 201610 yr Still dont get your point, any event with that many people has people arrested from it. I would be curious what the arrest numbers were for the previous home games. No news coverage during the season, so can't we assume no arrests ? Or is this a case of reporting what is hot versus what is a problem. I'm not saying the behavior are not a problem either.... I question if 6 is standard / average or above average for arrests at PBS for a Bengals game. Any stats from Cincy's finest ?
January 11, 201610 yr If the Cincy fans would buy the stadium out each week there would be less problems. It was definitely a more charged crowd than normal, a lot more, but we got in and out without incident. I do think it is just a little dangerous to go to games like that and watching from home is the smarter option but I wouldn't trade the experience of that game for anything. In other words, I am really glad I went, I feel like if you weren't at the game you have no idea what it was really like. And for the record, the Pittsburgh fan that sat next to me was very nice and we pretty much agreed on everything pro or con for either team during the game.

January 12, 201610 yr Been to Atlanta, Tampa, Carolina, New Orleans, Chicago, Detroit, St Louis, SF (Candlestick), Tennessee, Indy, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Baltimore, NY Jets(Giants Stadium), and Buffalo. Baltimore by far the worse, only time I left because I was afraid I might get hurt and we said not one word to anyone. Son was slapped in back of head at Pittsburgh just standing in the end zone watching the game. Other places were normal with no problems. Detroit fans were nicest by far. I still think it is all relative to time of game, importance of game, and where you happen to sit.

By all accounts, going to a Niners game is FAAAARRR worse. Of course, the Raiders aren't good now, so that may play a huge part in that.
January 14, 201610 yr In my younger days I too attended Reds and Bengals games. Now that I'm older and wiser I have no use for either MLB or the NFL. They are both nothing but big business looking to churn a profit at the fans expense. The players have absolutely no allegiance to this city or to it's fans. It's strictly about their contracts and their bank accounts. Marketing creates "hated rivalries" - like the Reds players really hate the Cardinals or the Bengals players really hate the Steelers - Really??????? The only losers at the end of the day or season are the fans. Sad!
