For the 6th grade season next fall, watch out for Crone, Heflin and Riley. Played last year at South Kenton.

Twenhofel or staying with South Kenton?

6th graders typically aren't big contributors at the middle school level. Huge difference between the typical 6th grader and typical 8th grader.

There is a reason @BIGBLUE18 is asking, if you have some potential stand out 6th graders for next year post them here.

I'd be surprised if they came to play MS ball. As you know, very few 6th graders play at any Kenton County middle school, and even fewer (if any) contribute.

Sometimes you take the fun out of things, lol.

I hear that a lot.....

Anybody got a line on the top 4th graders?

The top sixth grader next year will be Calloway who played with Bengal Tigers over the last several years. I'm pretty sure he's going into sixth grade this fall. By far, in my eyes at least, the best player in the NKYFL for the last few seasons. No comparison in terms of speed, athleticism, nose for the end zone...all the things you need to be a dominant, elite game changer in the future.

Some start immediately on good teams and win MS championships. All about the drive of the individual.

This kid can be special. He has size and speed for his age group. Best player I saw meandering through those games. Better than most 7th/8th graders athletically. Not sure about technique because his nature skills overwhelmed everyone.

These threads always make me remember my Alabama 4th grade football story.

I flew there. Rented a car. Driving to see a customer in Birmingham. Find a local sports talk show to listen to while driving. Caller asks something like "Have you guys seen 4th grade Billy Joe Johnson over in West Birmingham?" At this point I'm assuming the host is going to blow him up and boot him off the air for asking such a ridiculous question. Instead the host says "Seen him. I love his game. I love how he cuts......"

Blew my mind. Then I realized I was in Alabama.

It's not just about drive...physical maturity plays just as big a part. I'm not saying it's never been or never will be done. Just in my experience (which is more extensive than most) it's very rare, at least in the Kenton County Schools (or any of the big schools in the NKMSAA).
