I haven't update lately because the models have been all over the place with this weekend's weather. They have been going from no storm system back to one coming. For now it look's like it will start out on Friday as a rain event the chance over to a rain/snow mix by Sunday.

It really depends on how fast the cold air mass moves in this weekend. Right now it looks to arrive later in the day on Sunday. Morning lows on Monday could be in the single digits with the highs in the high teens to low 20's.

The following map, 850mb shows the temperature in the atmosphere at 5,000 ft. This is where most of the precipitation that falls start. It gives a good indication of the very cold air mass heading our way. Also it can be used to predict the afternoon temperatures close to the ground. So you can see it will be very cold on Monday the coldest it has been since last winter.

I'll post an update when possible.

Looks like the weekend will start off with rain for Friday and Saturday then switch over to snow sometime Sunday morning. Accumulation totals are unsure right now but expect at least some light accumulation. I expect the highs to be around the low to mid 30s Sunday morning then the temperature will drop during the day.

I'll update later today

around 7 am Sunday morning

The ground's still too warm, isn't it? Even with a heavy snow, it won't stay around long, will it?

It may stay around a little longer than usual because of the rapid temperature drop on Sunday. Looks like after highs in the 50s today and tomorrow they may drop into the 20s by Sunday evening

As of now it looks like most of Kentucky could see around a dusting to an 1" on Sunday. Those along the Ohio River from around Paducah to Louisville could see upwards around 2".

Also everyone should take note of some really cold temperatures starting next week. They look to be with us for awhile. Winter is just starting for us.

Take care and I'll update when anything new pops up.

Just in time for the end of duck season. :thumb:

Very windy and light snow here. Not sticking to the road yet.

Snow with some ice in Louisville, mostly ice in S.Indiana above the river.
