FT's : NewCath 18/23 Holy Cross 16/23

Triples:

NewCath - Moeves 6, Ludwig

Holy Cross - Jakubowski 3, Bezold 2

Scoring

NewCath - Weyer 28, Moeves 18, Hall 8, Ludwig 6

Holy Cross - L. Schrand 18, Bezold 18, Jakubowski 11, Volpenhein 8, Hacker 4, Scott 4, Zimmerman 2

Worst shooting night by the Breds all year, except Luke Moeves, 6/7 from 3....the only shots he attempted I believe. :ylsuper:

Breds got beat on drives to the basket far too many times, but did a good job keeping the Holy Cross "triple" attack in check for the most part.

Very impressed with the Cross, very fun bunch to watch. :thumb:

One of the most physical games I've seen, Weyer was being molested every time on offense.

Turning point in this one.......Holy Cross ball and led (59-57) with :39.6 remaining, they call an Intentional Foul on Pangallo away from the ball. Then they send the wrong shooter (Bezold) to the foul line, who makes both......however it was corrected and Hamilton Scott makes 1 of 2, but the damage was done.

How does only 4 players score for NCC? How many players are seeing the floor?

Anyone have how many minutes each player played?

Aren't they going to need more support to bring home the region and make it to Rupp?

Is this an issue with the coaching staff only playing 6 players or players not scoring?

HC has the ball on the wing opposite of the stands and the NCC player went to foul a player standing on the opposite wing of the ball to put the person they wanted on the free throw line. Problem was the player was clearly stationary and the intention was clear.

Thanks. How did he foul him? Grab him? Wrap him up in a bear hug?

Some sort of combination. It wasn't a hard foul , HC was just spreading them wide and players were stationary so it made the intention obvious because it wasn't in the flow of the game.

The ref who made the initial call was going to just call a personal , my buddy and I looked at each other both said that should probably be an intentional. Then the other two refs ran over and conferred and both signaled intentional.

This is the 1st game they didn't play the entire bench. The past 6 games I'm pretty sure at least 10 different players hit the floor before the half.

So how many played tonight and what were their minute totals?

I think I saw 8 players played but HC only played 8 as well.

Playing to many players can be a disadvantage in tough games in my opinion unless your loaded.

Just a comment on Weyer's play. I thought he was exceptional at times. I can see why he is going to Bellermaine. Very good skill set.

But I saw LB13 make a comment on physical play in the post. My 3rd party observation they did allow a lot of action and banging go on in the paint on both sides.

Weyer could of got a few more fouls called but he tends to fade away sometimes and not take it strong on a shorter player. Bezold also seems to be very strong and did a good job of forcing Weyer to catch the ball further out than he wanted and shoot it further out than he wanted. Bezold was always in good position so for Weyer to get the foul more often he need to take it at him more instead of fade.

So Weyer scores 28 points and now we want to call him "soft". Ben has a skill set that allows him to step out on the floor so I doubt Bezold forced him anywhere that he was uncomfortable.

Also, where is Austin Neff? Kid played high level AAU basketball for many years and cannot get on the floor?

HC Radio had the Indians scoring as follows.

L. Schrand 22

Bezold 16

Jakubowski 11

Hacker 4

Zimmerman 4

Volpenhein 4

Scott 4

What was the deal with the entire NCC staff out on the floor pleading their case after the wrong shooter was sent to the line? I listened to the broadcast and they do a very nice job.

Where did I call him soft? I complemented him in two posts. I was making an observation based on another post and the reaction of a lot of NCC fans around me. My point was I thought the refs called it correctly in the post.

Since when is saying someone played exceptional , mean they are soft. There were times in the game where I thought Weyer could go for 50. I just made an observation that there were spurts he settled for a fade when he had a shorter player on him.

I don't think he said Weyer was soft. He said it was his opinion that he tends to fade away versus taking it into the opponent. Scoring 28 points is irrelevant to this point.

NCC will need more than 4 players to score to get anywhere in the Region but I think that goes without saying.

I must say I love watching Ben Weyer play. Kid is as good as advertised. Not sure how many rebounds he had but had to have 12-15. BEAST.

Leighton Schrand had his best all around game of his Holy Cross career IMO. NCC guards had a hard time stopping dribble penetration and staying in front of him. Also, Carter Zimmerman off the HC bench was big in that 2nd quarter when HC outscored NCC 23-10. Both teams are really good IMO. Good luck to NCC rest of way.
