Dalton does not need surgery

All over Twitter right now -- sounds like he's holding out hope for a Week 17 return.

I have to admit, I hate the idea of re-inserting a QB for the 1st round of the playoffs after sitting out 3+ weeks.

I agree, hopefully he can get back for week 17 so he gets a week in prior to playoffs.

Agree but I like it more than not inserting one of the top QBs in the NFL back in the lineup.

So is best case now that he returns for Baltimore instead of playoffs? That would be huge if Dalton could get back for the Baltimore game, especially if they can get the bye. I instantly perked back up when I saw this on Twitter.

Me too. Depending on how McCarron is playing it could be a blessing or a curse.

I've never been in the Dalton-hating "why don't we start McCarron" camp, but if he is running the offense well enough and the team gets into a rhythm with him I would be nervous about re-inserting a guy off a decent layoff who is trying to heal a thumb injury on his throwing hand. Now, if McCarron can't hit the broad side of a barn and we aren't getting anywhere, I'll be ecstatic about getting AD back.

I'm glad for him. Hope he's able to get it to full strength.

Even without surgery I'm on the pessimistic side anyway. I don't know where exactly he fractured his thumb, but I'm guessing he won't be able to grip a football until it's healed and even then his grip might be weak. It feels like a stretch for him to get passed all of that in under a month.

It doesn't bother me as I would assume he would have a full week of practice before he would be thrown back in. That's enough time to test the thumb and get the timing back. I believe a slightly rusty AD would be better than AJ with 4 games worth of experience.

I was reading a doctor this morning who said if it wasn't the joint and surgery wasn't needed, they could do some things to speed the healing. Some electro...., beyond what I can understand.

And if we have a rematch, I hope it is in the AFC Championship Game.

Stem cells, alien DNA, electro whatever...

I've watched the replay several times and I can't see it happen to the extent you can see it bend. Weird 10 seconds there.

Deer antler spray.
