These numbers are from the KHSAA, boys only. I am sure that this is not going to be the exact classes due to sizes changing, but it should be close enough for discussion purposes.

Suprisingly, using male only numbers, Beechwood is NOT in 1A in this model.

Harrodsburg has merged with Mercer County, so would Nicholas County drop down to 1A?

Male looks to be in nice shape if they don't play up! Them and John Hardin would be a HUGE rival IMO if they both stayed down. It is interesting to look at that 1A group and invision the opportunity some of those schools acutally have that they wouldn't have had before! 6A and 4A look like the toughest to me.

You asked what I would prefer in the other thread. I like this one, as I would think you would. The proposed 5A has all the NKY teams that are in 4A. That would be great for Dixie, compared to the other 5A scenario where you only had Holmes, Scott, And Grant Co. As for HHS, this classification gives them another geographical opponent in Holmes. Also having Beechwood in 2A along with their usual 1A foes is a good thing.

How funny would it be if Bobby didn't let Male play up? I can not see that happening, but it certainly would be indicative of something.

The proposed 5A has all the NKY teams that are in 4A.
Except for Conner.

I really like this proposal! I hope that, if they are commited to six classes, they move toward this alignment as soon as possible.

We should know by Friday, or Monday at the latest...I bet that Trinity and X are in the same district with Male, Manual, and PRP....ouch....we'll find out...

I hope that they put Male in our district....that way Male and Manual are split, and us and St. Xavier are split.

In this scenario, I seriously doubt that HHS would choose to play up.

^ that stinks....I think that the two most "successful" programs in KY should be in the same class.

I agree. But look how all our natural rivals are right there with us.

Will there be 6 state champs? At first I liked this but now that I see I'm not so sure... 1A is watered down alot. You could make a case for Frankfort and Holy Cross championship every year.

Here's how the NKY teams would line up in this scenario:

Class 6A

803 Conner

Class 5A

768 Campbell County

762 Boone County

736 Ryle

722 Simon Kenton

636 Dixie Heights

611 Scott

550 Grant County

Class 4A

503 Holmes

464 Covington Catholic

430 Pendleton County

423 Highlands

Class 3A

335 Lloyd Memorial

Class 2A

266 Newport

264 Newport Catholic

238 Holy Cross (Covington)

194 Bishop Brossart

183 Beechwood

Class 1A (24)

159 Ludlow

158 Walton-Verona

155 Dayton

138 Bellevue

Can you imagine if CCHS and HHS played up one level? It would be back to the good old days of the eight team (or something close to it) district! I would love to see this happen!

I'd love to see that happen. Personally, I know we always enjoyed playing Highlands and CovCath. That district, in its heyday(mid-late 90's) was probably the toughest I've seen top to bottom. Heck, Holmes was pretty daggone good back then as well. Now throw in Boone Co. and Campbell Co., and it could be a lot of fun! CCHS, Highlands, Boone, Dixie, Ryle, Campbell, SK......and Scott and Grant Co. Maybe we can engineer a trade......Scott and Grant Co. for Holmes!

Except for Conner.

What the heck would Conner do? Go back to the old way of being in the Lexington district? On a side note, I don't think that their classification in 6A would last long, due to the new school being opened in 2008 or '09.
