Shumari Bridgewater 6'2 215 4.5(40) is only going to be a Junior this year.

Somerset will be a very explosive offensive team. Lots of weapons in the skilled position. If they can tighten up their defense, they could make a run in November for the 1A crown.

 

I watched them play NCC in the playoffs last year, Their Qb impressed me. IF he is back they should be looking pretty good on that end.

If that's the case, Somerset has as good a chance as anyone to get to Louisville. I felt that they were the best team that NewCath played in the playoffs last year.

For this to happen someone will have to step up with Kenny Hughes in the backfield. We do return both Deaton QB and John Cole WR which should give us a powerful punch through the air. :thumb:

Somerset will need another WR to step up. Last year the Jumpers had a nice 1-2 punch with Cole and Norman.

Doesn't hurt to have a nice reciever on both sides of the QB to keep the Defense guessing but the Jumpers are still lacking another go to reciever "right now!" Key Words..."Right Now"

Point taken. I just remember watching the game last year. The QB is a warrior. All they need to find is a kid that can run routes with soft hands. With Somerset's tradition, they'll find someone. I still see the 'Breds as number one right now, but it's wide open. This may be the most competitive final four of 1A that we've seen in awhile. Mayfield will be there. Danville will be very, very tough to beat. NewCath has a slight advantage over NewCath, and Somerset must beat Pikeville. However, I don't see any blowouts in the "elite" 8 this year.

John Cole can run routes and also has great hands but all eyes will be on him this year and the Jumpers must find another WR to take some of that pressure off of Cole in the same way that Cole did for Norman last year.

The last time (in 04) that Pikeville had the homefield advantage they drilled Somerset 37-7 and it wasn't that close...whole different deal this year with Somerset having to come to Pikeville...of course if both teams even make it that far...several teams will have something to say about that, especially Lynn Camp and Paintsville.

Somerset was a whole different team from 04 to 05. Im not saying that Homefield doesnt have anything to do with it cause it does. However a different team can make a difference no matter where you play.

Pikeville won in Somerset in 03 also. Pikeville will win if these two meet in Pikeville for sure. Go ahead and write it down.
