December 7, 201510 yr Which it look like that will be the case down 35-14 with 10 minutes to go in the game, does that propel the Bengals to the top spot in the AFC?
December 7, 201510 yr Technically Yes. Cincinnati 10-2 (8-1 vs AFC), NE 10-2 (7-1 vs AFC), Denver 10-2 (6-2 vs AFC)
December 7, 201510 yr I read this morning they could, but that was if Houston beat the Pats. I think it will get down to Strength of schedule. So that is not determined until the end. I like the Bengals chances if they do. Pitt and Denver both will be really difficult.

December 7, 201510 yr What's the determination between the and the Pats? Common opponents? Don't know. I am sure the experts will sort it out for us and we can post a link soon.
December 7, 201510 yr Common opponents they are the same. It looks like SOS will get them if they and the Pats win out. If Broncos beat Bengals and Pats and Broncos lose another game for 3 way tie, then Denver is the #1 seed. Fun for now but far from over.
December 7, 201510 yr 3.To determine home-field priority among division-titlists, apply Wild Card tie-breakers TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken. 1.If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker. 2.If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps. Three or More Clubs (Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.) 1.Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants. 2.Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.) 3.Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. 4.Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four. 5.Strength of victory. 6.Strength of schedule. 7.Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed. 8.Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed. 9.Best net points in conference games. 10.Best net points in all games. 11.Best net touchdowns in all games. 12.Coin toss

So if both Bengals and Pats win out the Bengals may have a shot in that category. The Pats really haven't beaten any teams with many wins. None of the NFC East teams have many wins. The afc south doesn't have many wins. So it would be close most likely in strength of wins.
