you are not breaking any KHSAA rules by "recruiting" kids who have not yet started high school.

 

You can argue the morality of it, but the KHSAA has no rule against.

 

I have no idea if there is a rule about "recruiting" kids that haven't started high school. I have to believe there is something that keeps high school coaches from going to other middle schools and asking kids to come to their high school as a freshman. Or it would be happening all over the place legally. Heck, the would be booths set up at conventions centers...like job fairs!

 

But the morality alone is enough. If you are correct, recruiting kids to play high school sports is wrong in so many ways.

I do not know every player at HC but what I am hearing you say I guess they planned on Chames playing center for them this year and no one that was a freshman, sophomore or junior last year was a center is that what I am hearing?

I love BGP, and believe it fills the void left because none of the major media outlets in Cincinnati cover Northern Kentucky high school sports like they used to. But it is being abused and I am asking, politely for the moment, that the abuse stop. Implying illegal or immoral or unethical conduct by people wrongfully is legally defamatory. When those people have careers and reputations that are affected, I think the defaming parties should anticipate litigation. And I don't want that. So stop. Just stop.

 

The threat of litigation may be a bit of a stretch here. Opinions and statements of facts are very different things. People can have opinions about people potentially doing something wrong. This is needed for society to function. Stating something is a fact, unequivocally, is different. I don't see anything stated as fact that could be pursued as defamatory.

 

The case would also be muddled by the whole public/private issue. One could argue we're dealing with public entities in these discussions. Public entities have much broader definitions of what entails defamation. This is where it would get tricky, though...

 

So relax on the threats. This is an anonymous board with people stating opinions. Litigation would be difficult. If people think something is wrong with a KHSAA school, report it to them.

 

Otherwise, argue opinions all you want.

So four kids come to HC and no one loses minutes? Boy, that is great! I was only explaining what the poster today meant. He wasn't talking about just varsity.

 

And HC's enrollment did go up by 4! I never said those kids would have an effect on this year's varsity team. I said they would be on the roster. What I do know is that has changed since then. So you are right, 3 of the 4 are not on the varsity roster now. But again, I think we'll see some of the fall out of that at some point.

This is incorrect. Please name one! No long time player sits.. And i mention it cause you bet it all that the new 8th graders would be on varsity!! You know, the day you were concerned with enrollment. Lol guess what.....

Again avoid the question "where did she play last year".

 

Rice for one moved so driving all the way to Ryle would be ridiculous, but I am sure all those transfers at HC moved correct and no she isn't taking playing time because the girl they had playing center last year is starting and playing and there is no one else that played center and NCC graduated 5 seniors.

It is disturbing to read accusations about Holy Cross and ethics. Holy Cross High School is amazing. We have students from Kenton County, Campbell County, Boone County, Grant County and Hamilton County. I understand this thread is about the girls basketball team but kids transfer in all of the time for different reasons. Many of those kids are NOT on the basketball team. Do you know about all of the transfers on the tennis team, track team, football team, cheerleading team or those involved in the school play? Nope, because they didn't just recently win a state championship. To hear that someone comes from a school nearby like Holmes, St. Pius, Blessed Sacrament or St. Agnes (right up the street from NDA) is not uncommon. Parents and students choose Holy Cross for a variety of reasons. You do not know what that student athlete is going through to prompt a parent to choose a transfer. Holy Cross offers an amazing academic support for struggling students. That program is superior to anything offered in the greater Cincinnati area. It could be that a kid was bullied, has friends from church, etc. (even friends from an AAU team) Or... maybe the parent feels that a small school gives their student athlete an opportunity to compete... so what?? We are lucky in Northern Kentucky that we have options for kids. Last year, a Senior transfered to HC April. Graduation was in May. No one talked about this kid, because he wasn't involved with the girls basketball program. Those involved with our school know how great of an environment it is for kids. Stop trashing the school and coaches. If you are that concerned, contact the KHSAA and log a formal complaint. I'm sure any investigation will conclude no wrong doing.

No one is really is questioning any of that. It's a great school. Does a lot for a lot of kids! Couldn't agree more. Again this stuff started before they sniffed a state championship. So you can throw jealously argument out the window. They won't win it this year and they won't win it anytime soon. Jealously develops over time, not with one successful season.

 

As for your investigation comments, I don't control that. But don't be surprised if that's not under way. And you are correct. They may not have anything happen to them because it's VERY hard to prove. And as other have said, some of it could be said that's it's within the rules. But then it goes back to is it the right thing to do.

Let me ask you this Mom....as many on here will try to make you believe that this situation is no different than what goes on everywhere to minimize or justify what's being discussed...why is it that multiple posters, from multiple areas, that know a lot about NKy girls Bball are only "picking" on HC? Why wouldn't we all be concerned with all those other schools? Because HC won the state championship?? If you believe that, you have had the wool pulled way over your eyes. So tell us why all these folks on BGP and not on BGP are talking about it all over the place. There are only a small few that speak out on here. Don't let that disguise what's being said outside BGP and in circles that can have an effect on the situation.
