Is Belfry a really bad match-up for Lexington Catholic?

Featured Replies

There is no question that Lexington Catholic has a fine football team but are the Pirates a bad match-up for the Knights?

Big, strong, physical, smash mouth, too much for LexCath to handle?

LexCath poses similar matchup issues for Belfry in their own regards

With that said, this may be one of the biggest size discrepencies at the LOS in a State Finals game in a long time.

Belfry has 5 guys on their O-line over 270, I am not sure LexCath has a single defensive player over 230. On the other side of the ball you are going to have guys giving up over 50 pounds at times trying to block Belfry's two All-State DT's

Guess that thread from last week about "Quickness vs. Size" will get determined once and for all in this one.

Will Belfry's size and strength hold the day or will LexCath's lightning quickness?

Belfry as a program has plenty of experience against lightning. Or put another way, Central has been good for EVERYONE!

To answer your question, yes.

Power games are not good for LC.

At school today I was told at lunch the student athletes were only allowed to eat spinach and protein shakes. With the extra days for this game I am hoping that the size disparates go away.

I heard LexCath postponed Thanksgiving until this Thursday in an effort to try and help

 Stop it man...

I didn't want to share this secret but for BGP I will........

All of our defensive players became Vegans at the start of Spring Ball. I can't get them to even consider some of this leftover turkey

 Stop it man...

It's a two way street though.

Belfry has made all their players wear parachutes and ankle weights since Saturday to try and make them faster. Word is Tyson Gay hates LexCath so much he came to work with the guys all week and teach them proper running form.

Coach Haywood will kill me for revealing this, but Belfry is planning to unveil a secret weapon:

All their DT's are wearing single digit numbers Sunday to make them faster... Belfry's DB's and RB's are also wearing neon colored shoes.

The team's collective 40 times are expected to decrease by .2 seconds

It's a two way street though.

Dude STOP! you kiiling me

Great topic. This ties directly into the recent thread concerning lineman preferences, quick or big. Assuming both are equal in technique and fundamentals, which do you prefer? At the high school level on a dry field, I think quick wins the day. However, if you are the big line, I think your game plan is 'our best defense is our ball controlled offense'.

Either way, it will be oil and water for this game, hopefully competitive for 4 quarters.

Belfry is a bad matchup for any team in 3A.

See I heard Tyson was in KY but I thought it was for the holidays, I got that one wrong.

No film study for this week, instead we are replaying Rocky Balboa vs Ivan Drago for the players.....

Since we are having fun in this thread...

No offense to anyone from Belfry intended here but if we using boxing as our analogy it's more like Sugar Ray Leonard vs. Eric Esch in a large telephone booth.
