With the way they played in the tournament last year and the talent they have coming back. (of course the region losing the state's best player does'nt hurt either) The Pioneers should be the team to beat next year. I expect a huge season out of Mike Hester and an even better and stronger Josh Elbert and Josh Hurd.

I agree with you 100%. If Seth Blevins is healthy, he will also have a big year for SK. He played very well in AAU over the spring & summer.

Seth will have to fill the void that Schambach left. He wont be able to play defense like Phil or shoot as consistent but if he can knock down a few open threes here and there and help out on the boards they should be ok. :thumb:

Simon has a very nice team but I think alot of SK fans anticipate a cake walk......There are 4 or 5 teams that have enough talent to knock off the mythical giant known as Simon Kenton.

Shelby is my pick to win the 8th again.

Plus, like I said before, you don't just replace a player like Slaughter.

I just get that impression from most Sk fans, It just always seems that they don't want to give other teams their due but are very quick to rub your nose in their own superiority. Most of that impression comes from this website where a good size group of Sk fans blasted Henry County and the 8th region tourney because it didn't live up to the Mecca-like conditions of the Ninth.

Well I certainly wasnt one of those fans. I actually thought the tourney was great and the setting at Henry Co was more than the 9th could offer.

But Wouldn't you say that the reason that they didn't dominate in the paint was their inability to run a set offense because of slaughter's and White's tendencies( or Mike Clark's coaching style) of constantly wanting to go to a 1-4 flat and beat their man off of the dribble. You put those kids in a situation where they touch the ball alot on the post and they will own the paint. That being said I don't know if the coaching staff at Shelby will change their philosophy(and to me that is sad because I think they should won the entire tourney last year)

Got to go with SK. No one team can match up with both Hester and Hurd. Although it's not that easy, they can't go in with the attitude that it is already their title.

Nothing is a given, and no it won't be a cakewalk, no region is a cakewalk. Chambers is a load and Wade is long and a freak on defense, should be an exciting season, these guys took a beating for a few seasons but now are back on track.

Is Wade still on Shelby County's team? The Derek Smith Shootout shows Shelby County was exited by Louisville Central which has been a team struggling this summer. I would say there is some substance to SK being the favored in the 8th.

I'd like to get a chance to see SK in the sweet 16 next year,.. it's been a while, and as the an alum of the former, only team to win it all in the 9'th, I'd like to see another visit.
