My Mother HATES Barack Hussein Obama and I Think I Know Who's at Fault !

While it is hard for this liberal to admit, my dear little mama, absolutely detests our black President. Much like 70% of BGP, she wouldn't lose a wink of sleep if ISIS took him out tomorrow. Why does she dislike him so much? I'm working on finding out and I think I know the cause. Like most of my family, she has always voted Democrat. She loved Jimmy Carter, loves Hillary, and worships the ground William Jefferson Clinton walks on. I don't want to insinuate that my beloved little mother is racist in any way but I'm beginning to wonder. Like Jimmy Carter said, I am convinced that a good portion of the venom thrown his way has racial overtones. But my own little sweet mammy? Could the dark plague of racism have infected her as well. BTW, I believe it infects all of us in varying degrees.

Mom and I argued about our President last night. I told her I would vote for him a third time over any Republican. "What has he done for you?", she said , with a biting retort. "He hasn't done anything for anyone for anyone except for the gays! " "Besides, he's a damn Muslim!" "He's not a Muslim and what if he was?", I responded. She claims that she saw "proof" in some book she read. "There was a picture of him when he was younger dressed in some African 'garb' smoking a big, long pipe," mommy said. This was her "proof." When I reminded her that he has attended Christian churches all his adult life, she says, "yeah, churches whose pastor says that he hates Americans." I'm assuming she's referring to Jeremiah Wright. " And , by the way, Obamacare is a total joke," mom said. This statement came from a woman who doesn't have the easiest time paying for her medication and could probably benefit from Obamacare.

Do you think my mommy has been watching too much FOX news ? Something has warped her mind and sewn the seeds of hate for this black man. Has she been on BGP without my knowledge? When I implored her to tell me if she actually voted for the wealthy Mormon and advocate for the rich, Mitt Romney, she claimed she didn't. She said she just didn't vote. In our family, voting for a Republican would be the equivalent of sneaking out in the backyard on Christmas eve, firing off a shotgun blast, and then coming in and telling the startled children that Santa had just committed suicide. You just don't do it!

To top it all, and to further cement my belief that FOX News is doing a number on my mom's once sane mind, mom revealed that she's sick and tired of going into Walmart and seeing these women wearing garb covering their heads and faces(it's a hijab, mom) and talking "jibberish." "If they come here to our country they should dress and talk like we do," mom said sharply. Hell, I wouldn't anyone to talk "redneck" like most of the people in my town do.

Oh, and when it comes to the Syrian refugee crisis, my adds this pearl of wisdom: "We don't need any damn Syrians coming here and spreading their diseases and having their terrorists blowing up our buildings."

So it appears as though my sainted mother has some xenophobic leanings that I didn't know about as well. Apparently, she has been paying close attention to the Republican Party and its candidates the past few months. I short, mommy could probably be the frontrunner among Republicans if she would just announce her candidacy. Thank you, Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, and the rest of the GOP circus for helping turn my Democratic little mammy into an irrational, prejudicial, homophobic, xenophobic, little tyrant.

Oh, and I had to get my own damn slice of pumpkin pie. Thanks again, pachyderms!!!

You're welcome. Your mother has now entered the realm of reality over naive idealism.

Thank you for being honest enough to admit that homophobia, xenophobia, and racism is the reality of the GOP today and the opposite philosophy just represent naive ideals to that growing sector of the political right.

You are welcome to believe whatever fairy tales about the evil right you wish to believe. That and really need to work on detecting sarcasm in posts like my earlier post.

The elephant in the room.

No, fairy tales like I mentioned. True on a small percentage of the population, sure, just like with the left. True with the entire population? Nope, political rhetoric which sounds wonderful from the pulpit but crumbles when facts and true observations are made.

Is supporting a candidate simply because of his/her race just as racist as opposing a candidate due to his/her race?

If this story is true which I doubt it is , I'm sure your mother would love to know your calling her a racist on a message board.

How many threads can you start accusing everyone who disagrees with you as a racist.

The comments that I hear weekly in the area where I live aren't fairytales. There is a very strong undercurrent of racial and xenophobic nastiness in every community, mostly from those whose political leanings are well on the right of the spectrum. I get the feeling that papa sees and hears the things that I do each and every week. It is, indeed, the elephant in the room.

Lipton Bash once again hollers "racist" in a crowded theater.

The story is very true and I'm not public exposing her. I didn't mention her name and no one knows my name. I brought this up because I think it these Trumpesque Tea Party ideas have infected every community. I see it on a weekly basis. My mother is a wonderful, caring woman but I'm concerned at how she arrived at some of these ideas. Some of these things permeate some of the posts on this very site. I wonder how long mommy's been reading BGP? :)

As I said, I do not doubt in some of the country this is true but to say it is the norm of the right is plain and simple ignorance and wonderful rhetoric to enrage the fury of those who can be manipulated into believing such ignorance is the norm.

Do you also agree that our black president (as YOU continuously call him) received millions of votes simply BECAUSE of his race? Is that not racism?

How many times does this make him?
