Not statewide, but the main for each school. I know that drives Colonel alum crazy that it is so lopsided. I know that makes Bird alums smile.

It still gets testy. I even saw the Ft. Thomas police in the stands the entire second half up near the press box. Does anyone who was sitting up there know what that was about? Was someone upset because reality set in that they were losing again?

Educate me. What two teams have met more consistently in the playoffs than HHS and covcath? They stand in each other's way almost every year.

 

Ask any current player. That player will tell you. It's a rivalry.

 

Boyle vs. Lex Cath. Though they haven't "followed one another" in classification over the same time span, they have spent many a season being the obstacle to one another in the playoffs.

It is a rivalry, but just between these two schools. No one else really cares.

This is the equivalent of Ohio St. vs Michigan on the High School level...

I think it's still a big rivalry. It's been one sided for awhile, but you can always count on one of those games being close and it still has huge playoff implications. It's not St. X and Trinity, Boyle vs. LexCath, but it's still relevant

Boyle-LexCath? :idunno: If ever there was a definition of a regional rivalry, that would be it. Highlands and CovCath meet every year in November. Boyle and LexCath meet when Boyle makes it that far, and Boyle hasn't won that game since 2010. As rivalries go, that one takes a back seat to Highlands-CovCath, even with the current CovCath losing streak. At least CovCath is there when it counts.

It isn't the late 80's early 90's anymore. Covcath fans seem to like to say the winner wins state almost every year. Yet Covcath has like 1 title in 20 years. Covcath fans need to quit attaching their success or lack thereof to a playoff loss to Highlands every year. They seem to want to create the perception that they would win state every one of the years if they won the Game. I don't necessarily see it that way. Many of the games are blowouts too. The cold hard facts are Covcath has the same number of titles in the last couple decades and belongs in the same company of teams such as Russell, Breathitt, Bell Co, Cov Holy Cross, Lexington Christian, and Hazard. People keep giving their 4-9 teams a pass because they lose to Highlands in the playoffs.

The issue was rivalry not titles. I simply pointed out one of the reasons it is a rivalry is that they almost always meet twice a year and usually the second time is in the regional and the winner (Highlands primarily of late yes) more often than not has won it all.

Rivalries are not made or lost in a couple years so the fact CCH has not won a title in 9 years does not make it not a rivalry. The existence of the thread and your interest in it kind of answers the question...
