Serious question, is there something wrong with our system or overall standard of play if team's advance in the playoffs this far, this often? Not taking away anything from those who have accomplished this (amazing) feat.

 

There is just a significant gap between the elite programs and everyone else in a lot of situations, sometimes these teams meet even earlier i.e. st.x and trinity every year and other matchups as well. It's just the results of letting everyone in the playoffs (although I am in full support of allowing that, I think it gives everyone a chance, just like the 16 vs 1 seeds in march madness. sometimes the upset happens, and that 5% chance that it will happen is enough to keep it going).

The ones that extend into the four class days - they're just that danged good. Programs like Mayfield appear to be eternal. The ones that are in the six class days, they're still basically that good, but whereas they used to run into second round games that could really push them, now, those are few and far in between. 4 seeds over 1 seeds were never common, but they happened under the four class system. Now, win your district, you've almost got a bye. That leaves that second round matchup, and in many cases, they still can't be pushed.

Not from Mayfield. At all. Never seen em play. Don't think I've EVER been to Graves County for anything.

 

I was just pointing out the magnitude of the accomplishment (didn't know the 37-of-40 bit until someone pointed it out).

If he graduated in spring of 2004, he did NOT play in fall of 2004.

 

Brohm graduated in 04, fall of 03 his last football season.
