Another Example As To Why We Need to KILL the Death Penalty

Featured Replies

One argument.

How about practicality or effectiveness ?

I am not sure I follow exactly what you are asking of me?

Hopefully none of us are ever in any situation, but I'd have a really hard time if my future wife and kids were killed in some type of public shooting and that person was not given the death penalty.

That situation has to be awful for someone. Does that person's death really make it better? Probably not, but I'd have to believe, I wouldn't be happy until it was done. I'd have to answer to God on my lack of forgiveness on that one but if I'm honest with myself, no way I'd be okay with them getting life in prison instead of death penalty.

Maybe I'd feel differently if ever in that situation and I pray I'm not, nor any of you, or anyone in general really.

Tighten it up to help prevent someone whose innocent being falsely put to death, sure all for that. Just not sure how you do that. I'd just never sign off on removing it completely if I had the choice.

Let the "slam dunks" rot in prison for the rest of their miserable lives.

Can't be the cost. Most (not all, but the great majority) of opinions I've read say that death penalty cases are more expensive, when all is said and done. than life sentences.

I don't disagree with your personal view, I am speaking more about how the rest of the world perceives America. I think it is hard for America to call out ISIS when we put people to death too. All that others are going to remember is America kills their own, at least with ISIS they are killing the "enemy." In the world of public opinion some people probably think what we do is worse.

I just think if we want to be the leader in this world we need re-examine issues like the death penalty.

For the record me being against DP has nothing to do with a world view. That doesn't even remotely register with me. It shouldn't influence any decision we make.

I think the world view is one of many reasons why we probably need to do away with most, if not all, death penalty cases.

I look at it from moral and freedom issue. None of my decision making is influenced by people who don't live here.

I firmly believe America is and needs to be the leader of the free world so I do think it is important.

We both agree on the death penalty issue, I just have one more bullet point on my list why.

So you think they deserve three hot meals a day, TV, etc. for the rest of their lives?

Not me. It's not the cost, it's the principal of it.

Who says the meals have to be hot? Who says they have to have TV? Well, maybe the 700 Club 24-7.

I could give a rats behind what the rest of the world thinks. When they clean up their human rights atrocities, maybe I'll change my mind. Not until then though.

Anything less will be claimed to be cruel and unusual punishment by the ACLU and their supporters.

I hear you but I would strongly prefer America lead by example.

Too bad.

I don't think it is not leading by example when you execute some of the worst slime humanity has to offer.

I covered that in a earlier post, we may not look at it that way but I am sure many in the world are just checking a box and that box says America puts its own people to death.
