November 11, 201510 yr Sounds like Dr. Carson is a student of Economics Nobel Laureate Dr. Milton Friedman of the prestigious University of Chicago School of Economics. Dr. Friedman's videos explaining macro economics in everyday terms are amazing. I love when he would debate socialists. His use of facts, logic and solid reasoning always won out over their use of emotion, rhetoric and idealism. I wish he were alive today and could debate with Bernie Sanders. Sanders would probably have a heart attack, if Bernie were to even show up for the debate. Dr. Friedman was the lead figure of the Chicago Boys and pretty much every Fed Reserve Chairman mentions Dr. Friedman as one of the leading influences on the views on economics.

November 11, 201510 yr That's an opinion. Not a fact. As someone said this is a basic Adam Smith economic principle. So no it is fact. Would you dispute that by % minorities have a larger amount of min. wage or entry level positions ? If you don't dispute that then again Carson was right. It's basic Economics.

November 11, 201510 yr I'm not an economics major or expert by any means but imo it would seem that raising the minimum wage salary could possibly cost people their jobs and also hinder future job opportunities for others. If I'm an employer paying $7.25 per hour to 20 employees and new regulations force me to have to raise it to $10 per hour, then I'm going to have to downsize a few workers to make ends meet. Instead of 20 workers maybe now I have only 16, and with an increased work load at that.

November 11, 201510 yr Yes. I dispute it. So let me first say the whole mininmum wage debate is silly to begin with. In 1970s 13.4 % of workforce was at or below mininmum wage. Today it's just 4.3% , over half of which are 16-24 . So the entire debate is over a very small portion of the economy and would do nothing for the middle class with families. But if you look at it proportional to each ethnicty/race , 5% of Black American make mininmum wage or lower. Which is the highest of any ethnicity or race. 5.2 % of all women fall into here as well. So again off the basic economic principle that raising the wage to high would eliminate some entry level positions. Then we could look at it and say proportionally the people negatively impacted would be Black Americans and Women. Edited November 11, 201510 yr by LIPTON BASH

I am giving you live tweets from blacks who have zero clue what Ben Carson is talking about and how they feel and think when they hear him talk. This is exhibit A that republicans don't care about the black vote because these are black people who can't figure out a word he is saying and this is their reaction to his words. If what he is saying makes so much sense why won't he break it down for us stupid Americans?

I just thought the Twitter explosion to his comment was interesting and worth sharing.
