From what I've heard, the offensive and defensive lines are the most unproven aspects of this year's team. Not saying they won't develop, but that, at this point, they are the question mark. I wouldn't be confident to say that MC will "grind them into the ground." I would put our skill people up against theirs. But, if you don't get it done up front, a lot of talent at skill positions can be for naught.

One of the most interesting 1st games this year (to me anyway) will be Holmes vs South Laurel in Cumberland Valley Bowl VI. Holmes brings back a ton of solid seniors, South lost some very good players after a solid 9-3 season but has a new head coach in Jason Chappel. This could be a very interesting matchup to see where Holmes and S Laurel both are early in the season. I really look forward to watching #44 (Denton I think) for Holmes. He was one of the best defensive players I saw all season in 2005 (Stocker for Mad Southern was the best I saw).

.

Can't speak for the others but you ought to break down those 8 losses and 8 wins a little better.

In that time they beat Boyle in 2002 who won AAA.

They lost to Boyle by 3 in 2001 when the Rebels won AAA.

Beat a good Manual team (already mentioned how successful they were that year).

Beat Ft Thomas up north when the Bluebirds were AAA runner-up.

Of the 8 losses four were to crosstown rival Boyle and I don't think they've been too shabby.

Again, the truth is that Danville has had less trouble with bigger badder boys than was painted earlier. The might be Class A but I wouldn't lump them in a blanket statement about

Danville, Beechwood, Mayfield, and NCC all usually struggle when playing 3A schools or higher. They dominate other A and a good majority of the AA schools they would play.

One other thing to note is that the programs Danville plays "up" to are usually some of the best in the state every time. (Boyle, Ft Thomas, Manual, Rockastle) :thumb:

Great post!!! :thumb:

That Manual team finished 4-6 if i'm not mistaken. Danville is by far the most successful class A school against 3A/4A competition.

Last comment, I promise :D , I don't recall their record because Danville beat them twice I believe. One of those years was the aforementioned year Manual defeated Trinity. So they must not have been too bad. :thumb:

It was the same Manual team that went 4-6 and missed the playoffs.

Not to mention that last year Danville dominated a Rockcastle County team that reached the state semi-finals...to say that the Ads struggle against teams in higher classes is ridiculous. All you have to do is come to the Danville/Boyle Co. game ANY year, while Boyle has won most of these matchups the past few years, they are always close games. Danville can play with anybody.

LCA was supposed to play franklin county but opted out of that and looky what they found. LOL.
