I think this comes down to play calling or the lack there of. Ryle's pass 1st, 2nd, and 3rd,,oh and maybe 4th and 5th option is going to have to change to have a chance. Until they mix it up it won't be that tough of a game for SK. The last game, SK was daring Ryle to run and they still passed the ball. Until Ryle starts to make teams honor the run,, their passing game will not be as effective as it can be. I pick SK by 3 scores. I think they are just too big up front and can control the LOS. After a while, I think they will just push the Raiders around and impose their will.

 

You realize you contradicted yourself, right? On one hand you said Ryle needs to run the ball. But you followed that up with SK will own the LOS. Which is it? I think you just made the case for Ryle to pass.

The OL cannot run block effectively.

Look at who they are playing when the get high rushing numbers. On top of that, look at who is getting good numbers against what teams.

 

I don't think you are giving the Oline enough credit. They are avg'ing 196 yds rushing per game:

So is it a surprise that the 2 teams they lost to, Ryle had poor rushing games. Cooper's & SK's D Line just won the Battle on that night. That doesn't mean they cannot run block effectively. They just got beat those nights. I would look at Cooper's and SK's rush Defense stats for every game. I'll belt the stats are pretty impressive. Ryle can run and open up holes. They just have to prove they can do it vs the best D Lines. Not to mention Cooper and Sk have some pretty good Linebackers as well. I realize I am kinda supporting your arguement, but Ryle has had some very good rushing games.

How yards you have mean nothing if you can't score. SK had 396 yards 4 tds.

 

SK 368, Ryle 333 from khsaa website, but it says if a weak Ryle team can put up that many yards, Scott Co, Male, or T will light up the score board.

SK's oline faced probably the biggest dline ever 3 guys in the 300 pound range and they did a great job. They should be ready to face Ryles dline who are smaller but quick.

No,, my point was to be more than one dimensional to have more success in the game.

I think Ryle has come a long way and hopefully starting a new trend. If you look at their record over the last two and half decades the school has only three seasons of 9-3 or better. Even with a loss it's still one of their best seasons. With so many juniors returning and an excellent sophomore base they should be as good or better next year. It's always good to see improvement in the program. I think the game will be closer than many have posted.

As a few others have mentioned, Ryle has struggled to run the ball against teams with tough defensive fronts. I expect them to struggle against Simon Kenton. Even if they do struggle, they have to keep mixing the running plays in if they want to win the game. They may not get much yardage but you have to keep Simon Kenton and their blitzing defense honest.
