No one was handed the rock more than 4 times. We had 16 team carries for 170 team yards and three td's. Any of those kids with 20 carries would have had a 200+ night. We averaged 10.62 per carry. Is that your definition of tried to pound the ball?

If ever there was a game for Ryle to mix more run in to their offense....it would be this one. I appreciate the air attack and talent behind it. However, as stated earlier, an offense has to earn the respect of an opposing teams LBs or the occasional blitzing corner by choosing effective run plays via counter, sweep, run option, etc...

 

I have no problem saying I think Ryle has the best, yet most under utilized backfield in NKY. England, Chisolm, and gang if given the oppty to run 7-10X each per game would: put up very good #'s, better control clock, and keep the ball out of SKs offensive hands.

 

I'll predict now if the Raiders keep to the air attack as they have. They'll give up 5+ sacks. Hoping this prediction is wrong and Ryle better utilizes the run. Because if they do....Raider fans may really enjoy the outcome of this one!!!

I think if you click on the players name it'll break it down by game.

Even if Ryle is not having a ton of success running the ball and is only getting say, 3 yards a carry, you can't go away from the run. If anything it takes time off of the clock for Racke and Powell to have the ball and do their thing. In my opinion, if you want to beat SK you have to do it by winning the turnover battle, the time of possession battle, and capitalizing in the Red Zone when you get there.

 

Not to hijack the thread but one of SK's "closest" games this year was against Cooper. I know SK could have made a few plays here and there to make it a different score, but for the purposes of how to beat SK I am going to use Cooper as the example. Before the first half ended they had the ball on the 1 yard line and didn't punch it in. I believe that would have made the game 16-7 instead of 16-0 at half or something like that. Cooper came out in the second half, got a stop, and scored to make it 16-7, which would have been 16-14 had they scored at end of the half. After the score, a dropped pick 6 would have given the JAGS the lead. Not to mention two terrible snaps that resulted in a free 2 points for SK.

 

Again, I know that SK had plays where they could have put up more points and both teams left points out there, but my point is, Cooper somewhat controlled the clock with a run game that didn't work great, but limited SK's possessions a little bit which held them to scoring 24 offensive points. Cooper did not win the turnover battle, capitalize in the red zone, and time of possession was slightly in SK's favor I think. Against a really solid SK team, there can be no turnovers and you have to capitalize and move the chains. Only way you are going to beat this team unless they come out and lay an egg!

But you would also have to agree that this years rushing yards were against a weaker schedule. I saw on another thread where Calpreps had Ryles schedule ranked 30th. I believe there are only 32 teams in 6A

I would completely disagree that this years schedule is easier. I believe the schedule they played last season was much easier.

Ryle rushed 27 times for 77 yards in the first game against SK. SK has forced 31 turnovers this season.

11 games ago rockstar..what did we pass for 451. I'll take 528 yards of Offense and 35 points. You just keep looking backwards. You should be worried about the future. I don't think these boys are set on letting history repeat itself. You should be more concerned with some of your starters health issues than what we have done in the last 11 games. Playoffs are a new season.
