It was 21-14 halfway through the third quarter. Boyle then scored TDs on their next 3 possessions to put this one away. Waggener moved the ball well but they couldn't match Boyle score for score and that was a wrap for them.

 

Waggener never punted. Is that always done by them or was their punter injured?

How did the corner do for LW? #9 is a promising talent and I was curious how he played. Sounded like the Rebels running game rather than their passing game carried them or was it more balanced?

Personally I thought JJ was faster and more skilled than any of the WR that Waggener has and Boyle's corners ran with their receivers anytime they went deep. I wasn't overly impressed with Waggeners speed after hearing all week how fast they were.

Waggener's size overall impressed me more than anything. They had some thick boys out there on their lines. Not sure how many seniors they have but if most everyone is coming back I could see LW being a real threat to Central in their district next year.

It is interestingly quiet this morning compared to the couple of people who spoke loudly about key players and speed for LW. Like Purple, I'd like to know some inside stories and opinions.

IMO Waggner might have a slight speed advantage overall but Catholic's receivers are definitely faster than Waggners, and I still think Danville is the fastest team Boyle has played this season, again just one man's opinion. In closing JJ Ogbogu is still the best receiver I've seen in a very long time.

They had some big boys upfront on both sides of the ball.

Well I will throw in my analysis as the losing head coach.

First, I am super proud of our young men for their turnaround this year and buying into a program.

Second, it was an emotional game for our us, our senior captain and starting tailback spent the night in the hospital with 2nd degree burns on his right hand and forearm.

Third, Boyle was just a better team then us on this night. Coach Hester and the defensive staff did an excellent job neutralizing our team speed by playing off in their quarters coverage. They forced us to put together long drives and our mistakes offensively stalled us out several times.

 

Hats off to Boyle County! Great team and great place to play. Wish we could have made the 4th quarter more exciting for everyone!

Lack of depth was Waggeners demise. 43 kids listed on the roster and basically the same 11 guys going both ways all night long. Waggener had size and speed, but the bigguns were gassed in the 2nd and 4th quarters.
