Congratulations Coach Wiggins and the 2015 Mustang Football Team on receiving the Sportsmanship Award from the Northern Kentucky Officials Association. The award is determined by a secret ballot of all members in attendance at the NKOA annual meeting and awards banquet.

 

The criteria of the award asks the official to consider which school by the actions of it’s players, coaches, administrators, students, and fans displayed the best sportsmanship by their actions during the season. The award is presented at the team’s football banquet at the end of the season.

 

In second place were the Covington Catholic Colonels and Coach Eddie Eviston and third place was the Simon Kenton Pioneers and Coach Jeff Marksberry.

I would never have guessed that Bishop Brossart football would have the kind of season they had this year. This program has been on the brink of closure, off and on, since inception. Yet the faithful at BBHS stood behind these kids, weathered the coaching storms, shortage of players, lack of football experience and have put up numbers and wins that are almost unbelievable.

 

Congrats to Coach Wiggins and entire BBHS community, especially those football players who had options to go to other schools and chose to attend BBHS and make a team.

 

Well deserved. I certainly hope this team gets a permanent picture in the hallway...

Agreed. No better story than a team like BB who hangs with 'em and achieves some success. Hopefully, this is the start of continued success and this bunch is looked back upon some day as the team that got it all started.

Congrats Mustangs. Hopefully will all those wins more and more kids will think about joining the program. In a few years who knows how far they can go.

This has to be the feel good story of Northern Kentucky football this year with the Mustangs. In a very short time, they have turned a program that was about to fold, into a 9 win regular season. Congrats to the coaches and players for this turn around. Facing many challenges over the past few years, this team has thrived this year, and continued good luck into the playoffs.

Congrats Brossart as well as congrats on the fine season you had. However do to obvious reason, I can't extend the good luck sentiment for you this Friday . I do wish / pray that both teams remain injury free.

Little surprised to hear cov cath was second, although I guess you cant really take into consideration what happens on the field, its hard to see. but again great job by the whole BB community working toward a goal and achieving it!

This quote has been originally attributed to many famous coaches such as Bear Bryant, Pat Dye, Hayden Fry, and a host of others. I am not sure where it originally came from, but it sure applies to the Bishop Brossart Mustangs.

 

Brossart Football is the story of the year. (with honorable mention to SK's great year, Congrats to the 'Neers as well). I second the opinions about Brossart on this thread.

 

Many on BGP thought Brossart Football was way out over it's ski's with the past few year's results but congratulations on those who stuck it out.

 

It certainly takes more than one person to rejuvenate a program but an awful lot of credit for the Mustangs still having a program should go directly to Marc Cetrulo.

 

Marc's son Frank just won player of the week last week. What a fitting tribute to the blood, sweat, meetings, phone calls, negotiations for fields time, re-negotiations that Marc was instrumental with to keep the program alive and allow for his son and others to play.

 

Marc is the ultimate "can do" guy who will find a way to get it done.

 

And the Mustang faithful and players are doing the most important thing in youth sports...having fun.

 

Earlier this year after "rainout Friday" the fan base of BBHS were at Barleycorns where they were informed the game was rescheduled the next morning. Marc Cetrulo had organized a tailgate breakfast the next morning complete with eggs, bacon and of course, goetta.

 

I used the famous Ole Miss Grove line about Brossart that night saying...

 

"You guys might not win many games, but you'll never lose a tailgate party"

 

I guess I was right about the party, but wrong about the W's.
