What are you guys rambling on about? I questioned one basic premise of some of the posts on this thread and next I'm getting a history lesson on Trinity football. Spare me. First to compare the histories of BS and Trinity is beyond silly. Sixteen titles to... well you get the picture. Don't bash me, I didn't bring it up. I still contend that if you guys go on dreaming of the All Americans roaming the halls, you won't improve a bit. Good luck to the new coach and team (I've already stated this) but I hope he has a better plan than some of the posters offer up on this site.

FYI, Coach Miller was at Trinity for one season. I won't disrespect his contribution to Trinity Football but he is hardly the father of Shamrock football. Lets just say that he was followed by a coach that got the ball rolling.

Your assessment of the state of Lexington 4A football as a "down time" is kind of an understatement don't ya think?

Actually you did interject the Jeff Co 4A into this thread before anyone else brought it up. In regards to it being a down time for 4A in Lexington, it absolutely has been. The best team consistently over the past few seasons in that 4A district (R4D7) has been Scott County, not even a Lexington team. However, that doesn't mean that they can't succeed. They just haven't played to the level of the Jeff Co 4A teams. On that we agree 110%.

What I said was that Paulie Miller showed the players at Trinity why they weren't winning and Flaget was. Hard work. Had he been there longer, he would have done the same thing he did at Flaget. Win and turn out solid players (Horung, Norton, etc). I never called him the father of Flaget football. Having a subpar season (by his Flaget standards) in his 1 year there is hardly that. However, he did bring a work ethic to the field that Trinity had not seen before. And this is from former players who played for the man. Since that time, Trinity obviously learned what hard work gets you and has not just succeeded, they have excelled at it. I have nothing but respect for Trinity.

Until you walk the halls of those schools and see the athletes who are not playing at many of these 4A schools, it is hard to say what kind of talent a new coach at BS can tap into. But you are 100% right, if they are not playing, they are not players, .. just potential players. And potential means absolutely nothing if you cannot get them onto the field. I hope the new coach can get them out onto the field. It will make them better people, teach them life lessons, and could translate into more wins. But that is still a big IF.

The problem is that many of us are tired of having T & X and all their tradition shoved down our throats in threads that don't even pertain to them. Threads have even been shut down because of it. That is it in a nutshell. My point was simply that the Trinity faithful did not enjoy having the successful teams down the street like Flaget looking down at their noses at them when they weren't successful in the early 1960's just like the other 4A teams don't like having some look down their noses at us right now. It is unbecoming of persons supporting those fine institutions to act in such a manner.

Good luck to the new coach at Bryan Station. I certainly hope he can turn the Defender football program back around. :thumb:

I absolutely agree. The only thing I disagree with is him saying that Scott Co. has been the most consistent. Regular season, maybe, but playoffs, no. They're up there, about a hair right behind PLD. The two have seen the one year where they didn't make the playoffs. Scott made it to the finals the year T lost to Dixie. The Cards do field a competative team every year, just as all of the schools in that district do. Woodford is behind, but not by far. Even though BS has been down, scoreboards and stats do not describe the teams they've recently had. They've showed sparks at times of being great and it only takes a few to start a fire. Hopefully the new coach can get the flame going again. This period of downtime at BS started in the schools front office, not on the football field. They have also the least supported school in Fayette Co.

Was the 7-on-7 (passing camp) cancelled today at Bryan Station? Why?
