3A Playoff Predictions

I think Central will beat LexCath if they can get by Boyle...and Boyle will have its hands full w/LexCath if they beat Central. Central will find it hard to run vs Boyle.

It's all about match ups.

Central has ran for 1600 yards and passed for a thousand yards. Far from Owensboro Catholic, but they can throw the ball when they need to.

Will Boyle be able to pass on Central? 17 Interceptions by the Yellowjackets and 5 of those returned for scores. 30 Turnovers forced in all.. 11 of those turned into touchdown returns. Absolutely a remarkable stat!

If Boyle doesn't protect the football like they did against LexCath this one could get ugly. Boyle has thrown 5 INT's in their last two quality games and neither LexCath or Dunbar has the pass rush of Central.

I think that game is going to be a dandy to watch and the best 2nd Round game in the State.

If they can't throw it deep, I'm not going to worry.

Do they have a RB of the caliber of Central Hardin or LexCath? The way to beat BCHS seems to be in the air.

They usually do. Not sure this year's RB is on the same level as some of the guys they have had in the past.. but usually they a couple HB's who are strong and run North/South and once they get free you aren't going to catch them.

Usually the deep ball is what they do best on Offense in the passing game. Central wants to grind you with the run and try to pop a couple long runs. Then they set you up for the play action deep where they almost always have a speed advantage. They aren't a team who likes to dink and dump out of the spread.

Kambrin Brown is their best WR for Central and he averages over 30 yards per catch. Ton of speed. They don't have a WR as good as Ogbogu of LexCath (Probably the best WR in 3A, IYAM), but they have a couple guys who would be LexCath's #2 guy if put in their system. Armstrong, IMHO, is their 2nd best WR..he is more of a possession guy. White is another deep threat.

Boyle Co can stop their run I'm sure.

Deep ball is a totally different animal and we better learn how to defend it or Central/LexCath will end our season no doubt.

Like you said...if we don't take care of the ball it won't matter.

Central's pass rush is outstanding... In a matchup with Boyle, a healthy Josiah Robbins could be a little an X-factor. He isn't going to outrun many Central defenders, but if Boyle is able to have a healthy Robbins, their rollout game is tough to defend. He can extend plays.

I think it will be a great game, either way.

Ogbugu is really good, but I don't know if he is a lot faster than any of Central's WRs. He is probably a better receiver, but I don't think his speed is much better. The problems for LexCath if they meet Central are more about having the time to throw downfield AND stopping the run.

Brown and him are about the same speed wise...but he is a phenomenal route runner which seperates him

I think that is probably a fair statement. Better receiver, not faster.

A healthy Robbins is faster than you think but I agree that he does need to be healthy for Boyle to be competitive.

Boyle County will be their at the end. They will beat Central, Catholic, and Caldwell.

Central's bread and butter is the run they may have 1000 YDS passing but their passing game will be nothing close to Lexington Catholic. you may want to look at Boyle's stats they have around 2200 YDS passing and around 1600 YDS rushing to me that's alot more impressive than Central's offensive stats. The 5 interceptions you speak of has more to do with Robbins bad ankles than the opposing defense. I will agree that if Boyle plays Central Robbins needs to be close to a 100% healthy.

Doesn't look like any of you guys are giving E-Town a chance to get past Caldwell I think the road to WKU may go thru E-Town instead of Caldwell county.

Etown still is a mystery. Caldwell we know has played some good teams in Christian County, Tilghman, and Mayfield.

Etown has dominated but their SOS hasn't been great. Some teams that usually have good teams that were down. North Oldham is 3-7. North Hardin is 3-7. Usually solid Glasgow and Bardstown are 5-5 each. Adair is 9-1 but their wins came against basically Church league teams.

It wouldnt shock me to see Etown advance... it also wouldnt shock me to see Tilghman run them off the field.

Robbins health will not matter unless they fix their Oline woes. If all they can do is pass all night I think he will be on his butt too much to affect the game a whole lot. They HAVE to be able to run to get the play action game working. If the run game doesn't hold those linebackers and corners a little closer to the line our guys will have a hard time getting separation in open field against Central. Boyle can beat Central at home or away but man I wish it were in Danville. If we don't hold our own at the line of scrimmage and drop passes and turn it over it will be a long night in Louisville. Don't have to play perfect but have to play better than LexCath and Dunbar game. Just my very humble opinion of course.
