It's an outdoor sport. Play outdoors unless it's dangerous.

Raining hard but I saw very little slippage and they were playing hard as well. Could have waited but didn't and all went well as far as I know.

 

That is an awesome picture. Your gear weatherproof or do you have someone with an umbrella next to you? I don't even begin to take the bag out of the car if it's drizzling, let alone rain of biblical proportions. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with WhoozYoDaddy. Soccer is an outside sport played in the elements and these are High school athletes playing in the KY State Tournament. In other geographical locations around our country and the world matches are routinely played in rain...Game on and have fun!

From what I am seeing....only people complaining are the fans who had to be out in it........those are the only ones with a choice not to go.

 

...."when I played the game" (and I am not Tracy Jones), I much rather enjoyed playing in the rain and snow over playing in the 95 degree heat........and that was in the grass and mud days....

 

Like today, only people complaining back then were the parents......mostly because of the mess we made in the Country Esquire station wagon with wood paneling.

I am no longer an AD so I don't keep a rolling schedule like I did in years past, but I would always chart out the entire athletic schedule, including playoffs (beginning date & final date) that the KHSAA would allow games @ district/region/etc.... to be played in. If field conditions were deemed too dangerous due to a reason out of our control as a host, I would conference with both AD's of the participating schools as well as the Assigning Official & the game officials prior to the contest to get their feel & move forward as a group.

 

Turf makes it easier, but there were a few times in my career that we had to stop & or postpone games due to the severity of the weather & the overall conditions of the playing surface.

It was raining sideways a significant portion of the time. Wind blew so hard it sounded like thunder. We don't get that kind of rain in Ky very often. Not for the sustained amount of time it was doing this.

I know it's an outdoor sport but for the fair weather fans that might of gone to the game this would have definitely been why you stayed home.
