He can definitely throw the ball. I think he only missed a couple of receivers last night, and they were balls that could have been caught. Very efficient. Ratliff wasn't even there. Not sure if he was sick or what. Going to the Manning Camp is impressive.

Well, let me just say in an overtly biased and extreamly proud way, Will Adkins is my nephew and the kid really is amazing. I'd have to ask his dad (my brother and Lawence County teacher, Ben) but I don't think he's 250.

I'm happy to say that he has spent two summers down here near me at the Manning Passing Academy. You will not find a better, more fundamentally-sound, natural pocket QB Freshman anywhere. He's calm, organized, checks down and has a sling of an arm. It helps that he has a couple of big time receivers. In my mind (and of course I'm biased) with the way Ratlif runs (speed) and Canes can catch (KY high jump champ) and Will throws (all three freshman)... Ashland has a tremendous multi-threat offense coming in a year or two.

I know that you may be biased, with him being your nephew and all, but I like what I'm hearing.

What can you tell us about this game? I saw where the freshman QB Will Adkins made his 1st JV start. How did he look? He is a huge kid. Someone told me he goes about 6'4, 250 lbs, and has some pretty good wheels on him. I had to question if he's really an Adkins if he has good wheels, but his dad and his uncle were slower than molasses. :lol2::lol2: But that report came from one of his former teammates who plays for Russell now.

Hey there, LRCW.

Benji was slow. Even when he was the Baseball District MVP in Ashland years ago, It was like watching a slug run the bases. I, on the other hand, can't even be called slow. I barely move at all, then and now. Your molasses analogy is both adequate and accurate. ;)

Isn't the freshman Robinson kid a pretty good back as well? Ashland offense could be really good in the future if this is all true

Sure is. He's a heck of a back. It does look good for the future of Tomcat football.

I'm assuming he's a good basketball player too because he has a D1 sister, and a 5 star recruit in the other. Hopefully he will stick with football too and not focus on just basketball. How tall is he?

He is. There are some big boys on those young lines too.

It's been mentioned that he may focus on basketball only, I hope he plays both sports as he appears to be an exceptional athlete. The choice is his though, it would be nice to see him contribute in more than one sport though, he's certainly capable. Not sure how tall he is.

According to the Tomcat Football program roster he's listed at 6'4" and 207

He's a big boy for sure

Future does look good. Robinson, Edmundson, Dillon Adkins, Will Adkins, Caines, Skaggs the list goes on. These guys will be impact players on future Tomcat Teams.

Coached against the Robinson kid in basketball last year, has great potential. Ashland had him running the point for most of the season that I saw which benefited him. Not too many 8th grade kids his height are allowed to handle the ball, usually just tucked in the paint and told to rebound and put shots back up. If he's done growing he is going to be a Pg or 2 guard later on so needs to handle the ball early.

Will Adkins needs to ride up with his Dad and check out Lawrence Co. after this year the Dawgs will be looking for a signal caller.

Interesting thought. At least one Dalton boy will still be there.

I haven't talked much to his dad about it, but I would just hate to see Will in something other than Maroon and White. However, Ben has taught in LC for a few years now and it certainly would make a lot of sense for Will to head that way... if for no other reason than logistics. ;) I just hope that the coaches see the benefit of having both those boys Will and Ratliff (seems to be a solid and strong athlete) on the field at the same time. I really do see a pretty special offensive attack on its way there on Elm Street in Ashland.

Will needs to stay right where he is. I look forward to seeing him put up big numbers for the Tomcats over the next 3 years.
