No disrespect intended at all, but I've noticed that this is you attitude on a lot of what I consider interesting topics. I think your response was the same about the age of the Earth. I think you said you didn't know whether it was thousands of years old or billions and that it didn't much matter either way,as long as it here for another 60 years or so. I think it does matter. I think what has helped shaped Carson's view of the world matters. I think Watergate and deflategate and spygate matters. I surmise that you're retort would be... who cares?

I think this may hurt Carson in the primary, as more of the evangelicals learn more about it. But it didn't hurt Romney. Interestingly, up until Romney secured the nomination, he was dogged by cult accusations from the hardline evangelicals. One of the major evangelical groups, I forget which one, I think the one that had to do with Billy Graham, listed Mormanism as a cult. Then he got the nomination and they quickly deleted it from the list of cults. I am not saying Mormanism is a cult, just saying that it is kinda hard to predict how something will affect politics or be affected by politics.

I missed it, please point out the post saying religion is not an issue now.

I too don't see this as an issue in the general election, it's not a cult like the Branch Davidians or Heaven's Gate. It may have some small effect in the primary.

I only care about things that a) I enjoy or b) impact me in some fashion. How old are planet is, or the religion of Dr. Carson have zero impact on my life, thus I just don't see why it matters one way or another. If it's interesting or important to you, more power to you. This bizarre little man who makes lots of bizarre statements is now leading the GOP clown parade in Iowa. His strange beliefs likely arise from his devout following of the Seventh Day Adventists(SDA). I know when I attended a large Southern Baptist church years ago, the pastor listed this group among several religious groups that may fall into the cult category.

 

Sabbatarian worship, "soul sleep," and annihilation of the wicked are but a few of the many very strange and out-of-the mainstream beliefs of these vegan zealots. They even have their own version of the Bible, The Clear Word Bible, that advances the teachings of Ellen G. White.

 

Anyone can see that a man with Dr Carson's intellect would have to have some strange influences in order for him to be capable of saying some of the crazy things that he does. In my opinion, one need look no further than the religious sect that many scholars deem to be a cult.

 

Some felt that the GOP party was headed up in 2012 by a cult follower in the Mormon Romney. This dude, while he has no chance of winning the nomination(but who knows with this crazy party), seems to be much, much more bizarre than even the Mittster.

 

Next time Carson says something odd, it probably reflects Ellen G. White's teachings and SDA protocol.

I frequently mention race in political discussions about voting patterns and such, but I don't willy-nilly call people's statements "racist" like you do. Therein lies the difference.
