Central and Belfry, who would have guessed it. Is it like a broken record? Is Lexington Catholic and Boyle County still in the discussion? Or, has the old favorites taken over again? Can Caldwell County disappoint some people in the playoffs? How about Paducah Tilghman? Is Bell County still in it? Who else should be in the discussion?

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

My money is on Scroggins/Central and Haywood/Belfry meeting the first weekend in December.

Does Central have to travel during the playoffs?

Only for semifinals, if it is Caldwell. I think that is right.

Central would have home field until the state semis, then Region 1 would host.

Thanks Guys! I'm looking forward to see how 3A plays out!

Calling your shot?

Central goes out in round 2. Mark it down.

Another shot called

IMO one team can beat Boyle Co and that's LexCath because of athletes and a particular style of play. Not really sure Central can do what LC can do to BC...but admittedly I don't know them like I do LexCath.

They are pretty darn good....

I am pretty familiar with Central and here's what I will say having watched that LexCath vs. Boyle game

If Central brings their A Game (in other words play like when they beat St. Xavier and CAL) and if Boyle or LexCath bring the same performance from that matchup I watched... Central will win that region and probably do so by 2-3 TD's

With that said, I came away with the impression that neither LexCath or Boyle really played their A game that night as well. Robbins was uncharacteristically dangerous with the turnovers and forcing things, LexCath blew numerous opportunities in the 1st Half, both made some costly penalties and execution mistakes.

Here's what you will always get with Central:

- They are going to be supremely coached on Defense. They are going to be one of the most physical teams you have played all year and you have no shot playing East to West against them. Their LB'ers are very disciplined and rarely miss tackles and get sideline to sideline in no time/

- Offensively they are not going to scare you with their passing game, but they have the ability to take it 70 yards every play. Think of the reverse LexCath. LexCath doesn't scare anyone as a running team, but their passing game is dangerous because all it takes is one blown assignment and it is "Goodnight, Sweetheart"

- They rarely hurt themselves with penalties or turnovers. They are almost always a + Turnover team.

- Their Special teams play is always surprisingly sound but not astounding. They always have a solid punter for some reason, and though their kicking game won't wow you it is effective and consistent. They have Return ablity and rarely give up returns.

The one thing you have to know and respect about Central is the same thing I have preached about for about 7 years now.... NO TEAM IN KENTUCKY... is as goodas they are at this.

- If you turn the ball over you are going to pay in a big, big way. They are absolutely lethal at quick change points. As a Belfry fan I have seen no less than 4 turnovers in the Final immediately turn into a Central TD and two of those have literally been the difference in Belfry having two more trophies in the case. It doesn't matter where you are on the field either... Bell County fans have seen numerous 14 point swings because they fumble deep in Central territory only to see it returned 70+ yard for a TD.

I suspect it is because Central platoons and these guys view a fumble as their shining moment to make a highlight play and score a TD... but I literally would say they probably return Half their turnovers that they force for scores come playoff time.

Dont take this as me saying Central is some immovable object... would not be the least bit surprised to see a Boyle vs. LexCath Regional Final. Just don't overlook them.. they are a dangerous beast and Scroggins can flat coach.

The anti-LexCath doesn't worry me on offense...Boyle has done a great job at stoping the run. It's our pass D that is suspect.

It sounds to me like a Boyle Co vs Central game would be lots of fun.

Can't wait!

I think Boyle matches up better with Central than LexCath does

I get the impression Central will be able to negate LexCath's speed... but Central will absolutely wear LexCath out up front and pressure the daylights out of the Knights' QB

Boyle's balance and the fact they are more content with long drives definitely helps them and maybe even gives them a bit of an edge if they hold on to the football.

I am telling you though, if Robbin's turns it over 3 or 4 times like the LexCath game though, it would be absolutely no surprise to see a running clock in play. I cannot stress enough if you turn it over against Central they will leave you wondering what the heck just happened.
