Second region Class A tournament

They lost all of their students to UHA and Hoptown

Caldwell County didn't lose anyone to those schools this year. Blue Paducah hasn't done his research. Their enrollment dropped back down to get them back into the Class A. They weren't Class A last season.

What is the enrollment cutoff for the all A?

I don't think it's an exact enrollment number. I think it is the bottom X number of schools but I could be wrong.

I believe you are correct..

I believe that is correct. I was thinking they take the bottom 125, but it may be 120. And if schools choose to drop out then the next in line of small enrollment schools takes their place.

We've never had an issue in the 14th region. I think we have the largest number of participating schools than any other region, around 10 or 11 schools. I'm not sure whether Cordia will be in it this year, though, due to their sanctions. The All A is not a KHSAA event so it may not affect the Lions playing in it. I suppose that decision will be up to the All A State Committee.

I think it is 120. Recently, I think the cutoff has been around an enrollment of 560, although I am not sure of the exact numbers in the past couple of years.

I much appreciate all the hard work many people put into the All A. As has been noted, it is not a KHSAA event and a lot of people put a lot of effort into making it happen. I fully understand the futility some schools feel, as most of the smaller schools don't have a realistic chance of advancing to the All A state tournament. But not participating deprives a team of perhaps achieving a tournament win (depending on the match-ups) and deprives its players of a shot at making a regional all tournament team. I'm sure the schools thought of all that before deciding not to participate. I wish those schools the very best with whatever they choose to do with their flexibility.

I think it is a protest of the small schools in the region that do not have a chance to win and they are just not playing as a protest.
