Newport Central Catholic 29 Lloyd 26

Congratulations to the Breds on keeping the district streak going. From what I saw, I do believe that coaching prevented Lloyd from winning, especially toward the end.

I knew you weren't......... I added the, "and forget about it" in case it gets back to Ryan, kid is usually money.

Fair enough :thumb:

Idk... NewCath missed a chipshot FG and 2 PAT's, correct?

It's wasn't just the extra points you can't give any team a short field and expect the d to hold

NewCath is at their best feeding it to Smith and Harris and only using the pass as a change of pace.

This was a fun game to follow.

Love his game!

How many yards did Smith have?

BTW Lawnboy & JuggAlumni, you guys did a fantastic job with the update thread. I think you guys should do that with other opposing fans of each of your remaining opponents....it worked out well for this game.

It was nice to be able to watch some of the game without typing. :lol2:

I enjoy giving the NewCath athletes all the publicity, and providing for those not in attendance, a sense of what's going on.

Lloyd must do something about all the bone-headed coaching decisions which have cost the Juggs multiple times throughout the season. Although others have mentioned this it is worth repeating: 1. You cannot let quality opponents start every drive at midfield. 2. When having obvious success running out of the spread with a lead simply keep running because your opponent not only is battling the scoreboard, but also the clock. 3. Find a kicker. There are like 84 boys on Lloyds roster, one of them surely can consistently make extra points. Find him fast because trading six points for 7 will never work. 4. Stick with one QB. Fann played outstanding for most of the game and he was able to find a rhythem because the constant in-and-out each series finally ceased and he was able to relax so to speak, and play. I put the int squarely on the coaches and do not hold that against the QB.

As for NCC all I can say is wow. To have that many penalties, missed kicks, and two dropped TDs and still find a way to win is quite impressive. NCC could have pulled away by three scores but kept making mental miscues. I am a casual NCC observer so this could be off base, but the undisciplined play seems very uncharacteristic for the Breds and if they do not fix it quick it will cost them in the playoffs.

I am sure we will get a rematch between these two programs in the playoffs and it will be a dandy of a game.

Last time Lloyd beat NC was 1991.

I would like to say the coaching staff started to settle on one QB but the only reason they didn't continue splitting time is Runion had his hand stepped on and said he couldn't throw the ball

Agree 100% with all the above. Especially NCC's undiciplined play. Still too many penalties. And for Pete's sake run some new plays. Does Lloyd have a soccer program? Just wondering because NCC'S kicker is also a soccer player, might be an option for them too.

My thoughts and observations from last night. Nice job by both teams, NCC and Lloyd both play extremely hard. The officiating was great, very solid squad with Sandlin on the sideline crew.

Lloyd positives is that got Charles the ball, the best athlete on the field, bar none. The negative is the worst kicking game that I have ever seen at any level. A far second is when Boone County went through "the Chalfant era" about a decade ago, by starting every kickoff out of bounds.

Eric Turner should have every male and female in PE class Monday morning for kicking tryouts. There has to be somebody roaming the hall ways that can help out.

NCC positives they know how to close out games, they have been doing it for decades and continue to find a way to win. I will say this NCC team talks more trash than any other Breds team. I am not saying that is bad thing or not, it is football. NCC would always pride themselves on having great athletes and being discipline in taking care of business. I was on the sidelines for the 2nd half, these boys were doing some jawing.

Lawnboy, I want to try to meet up with you here soon, lets shoot for a rematch or B-ball season. Congrats to you and your Breds!

Hence the countless flags for personal foul/unsportsmanlike penalties this season. Totally uncalled for and continues to be a problem.

To answer onespiritedfan: to the best of my knowlege Lloyd does not have a soccer program for boys or girls. Also, the middle school Tichenor does not have soccer teams either.
