Sooner or later they are going to have to face the monster in the room known as the purples. They have shown they can play by the way they man handled John Hardin, but its time to man up. You can say what you want, but the bottom line is they are NOT a 4A team. Rumor has it that some re-zoning is about to take place between Warren Central and South Warren. Time to shake things up a little more.

Julian chose to use a 4 year average. They currently are located well into 5A numbers and may be 6 next time we re-align.

Here is the issue no one is talking about: Warren County Schools now sees (probably still won't admit) that kids across the county are going to have to be "re-zoned" to Warren Central. The question now becomes, if "x" amount of South Warren kids are soon to be Warren Central kids could South Warren then become a 3A school.

 

I can assure you the Warren County Board already knows the "rezoning proposal." They know in order to get Warren Central back on the map academically they will have to pull several kids from nicer areas of town. Please know this is not a racial comment.

 

So, is there a chance in your opinion that in less than 2 school years from now the Spartans will be a 3A school? I think there is a good chance that happens.

Not really the same. Mercer absorbed another high school. They didn't just grow. Should have had to play in 5A. What I didn't realize that in the current 4 year system if a school declines by more than 10% for the first two years they can petition to drop a class for the last two year. If that is the case then why aren't schools that grow more than 10% made to go up. I do not like the 4 year system. Schools can change quite a bit in 4 years. 2 was just fine Julian.

Some where along the line, someone is going to have to start making sure that kids are going to the schools they are zoned to go to. If they are paying tuition, that is fine. But lets be real here, everyone knows that's not happening. There have been way too many coaches talking and no one can say this doesn't happen. Warren county has a great athlete pool to choose from. It should be a level playing field and its not. East and Central have been walked on for way too long. Glad to see their finally getting some of the things they deserve.

Wow, IF that goes through, then that would be quite a few kids - correct? Would that put Warren Central back to 5A?

My guess is that the Purples stay 5A for a while. Word on the street is that the city of Bowling Green is going to have a private Catholic High School within 5 years. That is a topic for another day (hope it doesn't happen).

 

Further guess that the numbers would qualify South Warren to 3A but they choose to play up to 4A. If the Dragons can go down to 3A they would. Again, this is just speculation on my part.

Although this does not necessarily mean that the middle and high school lines will not be affected, there is not a strong desire by the Board of Education to adjust the middle and high school lines at this time.

Just FYI Regardless of what happens with the redistricting there is no way South will drop back to a 3A school IMO.

 

At the meeting I went to they gave approximate numbers for High school enrollment as Greenwood 1,225, South 1,100, Warren Central at just over 1,000 and Warren East around 900. They emphasized that their concern was not at High School and Middle School rather at about 5 elementary schools that are over crowded and around 4 that were under enrollment capacity.

 

I am sure DF may have some more hard numbers but this is what they gave us at the meeting.

One side of town is growing. That side feeds into South Warren.

That is very true. Since the opening of South and JODY Richards Elem the Ivan Diwns sub division has experienced rapid growth and the bell haven sub division has grown as well.

 

There is a new sub division being developed at the smallhouse Elrod road split and several others are in the plans all in the South Waren district. In addition there are several in greenwood a district as well.
