Why can't they get there by some other mode of transportation?

 

Kenton County policy requires all teams to take buses to away games for liability reasons.

Yes, due to bus situations it is difficult for any team to get to away games for a 5:00 start. Most bus don't finish their routes and get back to the school until 4:15.

Good thing that Dixie's boys turned it up a notch and scored twice in last 10 minutes to break a zero-zero tie, or I don't think they would have played sudden victory extra time tonight. But that would be a story for the boys soccer forum.

I don't mean to be crass here, but just curious how many buses they need? I understand that the further out you go, the longer the route may take to complete...but, does every single bus take that long? I'd think all you need would be for one bus to be back a little earlier than that to make a 5pm start to work, wouldn't it?

One bus is all that is needed but you have to find a driver that wants to do the trip. If that driver has a longer route, then it creates the issue of later starts.

FYI, the start time for the Girls and Boys District finals on Thursday and Friday at Villa were moved up to 5:15.

I'm not exactly sure why I am seeing all the complaints about Villa hosting and having to take the PK the next night because Villa did not have lights. The way I see it, that was a huge advantage for Dixie. Tuesday night Villa was able to keep Dixie from scoring for 90 minutes with a keeper who has never played goalie before. Villa had the momentum going into the PKs and it is ashame they did not have the chance to finish the game that night. I also believe that 2 of Dixie's players who were injured and taken out of the game the night before was able to take the PKs last night. It really is sad to see all the negative comments about Villa being the "dumbest hosts ever" on twitter from a Dixie player, they won the game. In my option it really shows a lack of class.

Beyond the lighting issue, the game itself wasn't without some controversy. Dixie had a goal called off. Ref decided that the Villa keeper had possession of the ball when a Dixie player headed a ball out of the Villa keeper's hands. If you were wearing blue tonight, of course the keeper had possession. If you were wearing red, the keeper did not.

 

Dixie had the better of the play but did not finish. Villa was hanging on by a thread by the end, but did not snap. The second half and extra time was basically spent in the Villa half. Sorry St. Henry, you need to wait another night to see who you face in the final.

 

 

Not sure what game you were watching. There was no head ball. I watched the replay video over and there was no head ball. It was all shoulder into the keeper as she had possession of the ball. From watching the replay the Dixie player should have been carded. The video shows she was going for the keeper and not the ball.
