Thankfully the ADs were making this decision and not you. Not everyone has the luxury of taxpayer facilities. The field and setting meet all the KHSAA requirements and they have as much right to host a district every four years in any sport as the other schools.

 

Didn't mean to offend but just speaking the truth. By the way my girls go to a private school so all those taxpayer facilities you talk about aren't at our school. I along with the other parents have to pay for everything we get. I sure there is plenty of money to go around at Villa if they wanted to support the soccer program. I don't know from personal experience but just from what I've heard.

No offense taken...and that is the misconception...Villa does not grow money trees on that beautiful campus. The overall money is balanced between academics and all other extracurriculars including athletics. Remember that the softball, baseball and soccer fields on campus are also open to the public and used by around 2,800 children year round. The Sisters at St. Wahlberg Monastery are ultimately the ones to thank for such a nice complex, but not state of the art.

I've had many friends who graduated from Villa, and they are great individuals who received a tremendous education. However, some of the off color/rude comments directed towards the Dixie parents and staff last night by a very small number of Villa parents were really inappropriate. It really soured a good game played by both teams. While I realize that parents who choose to send their children to a private school also have to pay taxes that benefits public schools like Dixie, get over it... Good luck to both teams tonight.

NDA doesn't have lights, they start their District games at 5:00.

An alternative to hosting at your facility would be to borrow/rent another facility. I believe Brossart used NKU's soccer facility one year. What about Thomas More? I'm sure there are more than enough VMA grads that head over to Crestview Hills to TMC that would make using that facility affordable from one school in the Diocese of Covington to another. Cov Cath? Not sure if Notre Dame has lights. Even, dare I say then Dixie or St. Henry's facility. It just eats into the gate commission a little. Just something to consider in 4 years when district hosting comes around again.

It's home field advantage and the gate. What better way to slow down the pace of a game than plush grass and divot filled field. I heard the other coaches were upset with the scheduling of only one game a day but everyone gets a turn. I know NCC uses tower park even though their hosting but I'm sure HHS gave them a good rate on the rent.
