Looking at just this season...top 5

As great as Fournette is, LSU and their QB play is terrible. No way they are a top team, IMO. What have they done anyway?

I'd go:

OSU

TCU

Utah

Baylor

Michigan

No particular order:

Utah

LSU

Michigan

Baylor

Clemson

Baylor

Clemson

Alabama

Michigan

Notre Dame

3 three-loss teams in your top 5? Really?

I have 3 one loss teams and no 3 loss teams that I am aware of.

I agree.. LSU's reputation is based on a home blowout against an obviously mediocre Auburn team. They haven't done much, and they really struggle in the passing game. Fournette can't win it on his own when they start playing quality opponents.

Most impressive so far:

Utah

Clemson

Baylor

Michigan

Alabama

Sorry I realized my mistake, but you understood my point. I just want to hear your justification for putting 3 one loss teams in over 14 teams who have yet to lose a game.

Strength of wins. Performance and efficiency. The dreaded "margin of victory" against good opponents.

Every team I listed in Jumper Dad's list so I assumed they are fair to be considered. Where's your list?

I think margin of victory is one of the most useless stats IMO. But my list would be: Ohio St. (It's not hard to tell that they have the most talent hands-down in the nation), Clemson (Has gotten the best QB play of any team in consideration), Florida (Think their defense can overcome the loss of Grier), Baylor/TCU (These teams are identical just different uniforms and can outscore teams enough to overshadow their Division II level defenses), Michigan St. (I can't seem to understand the mass hatred shown their way). No particular order. I just think after 6 games it is hard to justify a one-loss team being considered with any of the teams I said. Could replace any of my teams except Ohio St. with LSU or Utah.

Funny thing is, one or two different calls, or slips or not catches by Florida....

Kentucky would replace Florida in teams of undefeated lol....... just saying.

I'd assume the reason every is discounting Michigan State is because they've looked like crap. :idunno: When you can barely beat Purdue and Rutgers that doesn't scream "elite team" to me.

I have LSU #1 because they have the hands down best player in the sport, and an elite defense to boot.

Utah has without question the best resume of any team in the country so they have to be included.

Baylor is an offensive juggernaut. They may give up a ton of points, but I don't trust any defense to stop them.

TCU is Baylor lite. Boykin is a stud.

Michigan has been outstanding since week 1. Defensively they're legit. I'll admit it's a bit of a homer pick.

You can't justify a top 5 before the 3rd week of November. To me it's silly to do so.
