A lot of East Carter and West Carter banter going on in this thread that is pretty much pointless. Ashland would beat East and West each as bad as they want. There is no need for West people to stir the pot. West beat East. Congrats. Now act like you have won a few games before.

 

As for this game. Ashland names the score. East will be unable to tackle that running back for Ashland. I hear he is decent.

 

Hopefully both remain injury free.

I don't know about that. Ashland may have 6 players that can play at the NAIA level or higher while KCU has a full roster.

Ashland always calls off the dogs after they get up 35 or 40. Ashland JV beat East 60-0 last year so my 55-14 score may be a little low. Hope both teams stay injury free and the rain holds off or is over because I hate eating my food in the rain. Ashland would put a running clock on the Carter County teams combined and maybe throw in Morgan with them too.

Happy that West is having a good season but fans be careful because the county tide will swing it always has. This is East vs Ashland however and it is a mismatch with East moving up this year. I wonder how much thought was given to not playing a district schedule and gaining some momentum. If you combined the Carter County schools they would be a lot better than you think.

Ashland Blazer has always been a quality program and a step above most everybody in Eastern KY. But, if you want to play the "what if" game......what if Greenup just had one team.....they would dominate all sports in Eastern ky........what if Vic Marsh stayed at West Carter long term?..........what if Baker stayed at Boyd?.........what if the O'Bryans stayed in Olive Hill where the Dad grew up and played sports?.......interesting conversation I guess and I'm sure many others could add to the "what ifs", but all irrelevant because they never happened or not going to happen.

They are like the old Ironton Teams when Lutz coached. They have a few different wrinkles compared to those great Ironton teams but basically line up and play smash mouth. They are fundamentally sound on both sides of the ball with good athletes and big strong lineman. Ashland has a great chance but will need to play very well to win. They should get 2 shots at them.

Like him or not Matney wins and don't start the weak schedule talk because he beats Ashland regularly and was on par with Cov Cath in the last ten years.

Thanks for the info. So far, I have been very impressed with our starting defense. They have handled every team that has come our way. The majority of scores against us have come from our 2nd and 3rd team defense. Not saying anything bad about them at all. We should be able to handle JC. Playing 4 qtrs is going to be something new, however. The last few games, we've been able to sub quit a bit. This will be interesting in having to play all 4 qtrs. I do think we are up to the task though. The fist game against them is big, however, the second one is what really counts.

I think the fact that the game will be played at Putnam Stadium is huge. If Ashland wins and they meet again in the playoffs I assume that game would also be in Ashland...so winning the regular season game is critical in my opinion. Going to JC to play in the 2nd or 3rd round of the playoffs (Im not sure when they would meet) and pulling out a win would be tough.
