Dang, I've slacked in making it to the pool since my IM and have considered going during today's lunch break. Then this thread is brought to the top. Must be a sign to get my lazy butt in gear.

I think I invited you to our learn to swim (or learn to swim better) swim clinic. If you leave now you should be able to make it from Canada in time!

@Wireman you still at it?

Absolutely, I swim almost every day. At least 5 times a week.

Awesome to hear man. What's your yardage at?

I go 1/2 mile 3-4 times a week then have one "long" swim that extends to one mile. That's my longest distance so far.

So about 800 most days and 1650 once a week? Are you just getting in and swimming that straight?

No, I take breaks. I have never really challenged myself to see how far I can go without stopping. I generally swim until I get tired, take a break, then hit it again. But I really have no training regimen so to speak. I did have a swimming instructor observe me a few weeks back and he said my stroke and breathing look pretty solid, especially for someone who has had no training. He gave me some pointers that I have been working on. Other than that, I've pretty much been on my own.

Just swam 2,000 yards and it sucked. I know it will come back quickly, but you can tell I am out swimming shape. My 50 times were embarrassingly slow :lol2:

I normally would never post a picture like this but I wanted to share my swimming progress:

I've gone a mile twice at this point but I can't do it without breaks yet.

Some nice improvement. Is that progression strictly from swimming or lifting as well? We have a pool at work and I'm seriously considering starting. I already run 3 days a week, but I run outside and the wear and tear is creeping up on me.

I actually lift and have changed my diet significantly as well

Man...my hat's off to you. Although I am a water enthusiast..diver, sailor, snorkel, and a sufficient swimmer, to do it for exercise is brutal to me.

As soon as I get to one end of the tub, I have to turn around.
