WOW

What UNC did was about 10 yrs more and 10 times as bad.

And what do they get. Jack Crap.

The NCAA is about as gutless as the KHSAA

Surprise to me is that this sort of thing isn't the norm rather than the exception.

I'm sure it happens a lot.

What has UNC done? I just don't keep up with this kind of stuff

Systematic academic fraud.

To kinda borrow and embellish a little Tarkanian quote...the NCAA is really not happy with UNC!

And how better to punish UNC for its wrongdoings than by laying the hammer down on one of its most famous alums?

To be entirely fair, the whole "Kentucky's Shame" thing has a lot to do with why UNC gets soft-pedaled. Imagine if the whole Penn St. thing went down in 1989.

The NCAA wants no part of taking prestige programs off TV in this current media/money environment, and NCAA people involved with the UK situation in 1989 will admit it was terrible to hammer UK so hard because of the business-world repercussions even at that time.

So SMU pays the price for everybody else. A sacrificial lamb, if you will. Because who cares about SMU?

Sadly, that's how it is. The NCAA only cares about their money. By not going after UNC, they don't lose money. Bringing the hammer down on SMU virtually loses them nothing because its SMU. I have never met a single SMU fan in my entire life. At the end of the day, its all about the benjamins.

Such a joke SMU gets these penalties yet UNC who has cheated for decades and includes thousands of students and student athletes, they get to go on as if nothing happened.
