I mean, it made sense last year to try to aim for the injury. It was clear that one shot to the chest and he would likely be out. The hit last week was a blatant a cheap shot as you will see...

 

I've seen that same late hit many times on a qb. Unfortunately, once again it was Kiel's head hitting the turf that aided in the concussion results. On last nights hit, Kiel took a last minute slide and the lb to his shot. I think the refs got the call right even though many think it was wrong. No contact to the head, qb became a running rb and then become live game for hard legal hits. I think they will look at this one closely again and still get the same results. I hope Kiel bounces back from this. Were you able to attend the game in Oxford? I had hopes of chatting with you during tailgate time.

Mad at the play in general. My point is they didn't suddenly get mad once they realized they lost. Kiel wasn't going to put up any more points than the rookie.

What would you expect him to do....a one legged bunny hop into the hit? I think he knew he had a chance to make a good shot on the QB; but aiming for the head...I don't think so.

It was another good one that will go down in the books as woulda, coulda, shoulda for the Redhawks. I think this rivalry will build back up in the years to come. It was a nice crowd in Oxford.

Just got an update from UC...

 

CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati junior quarterback Gunner Kiel traveled back to Cincinnati last night with the team following the game at Memphis. His X-rays were negative. Kiel remains under evaluation by the UC medical staff and his status for the Miami (Fla.) game on Thursday, Oct. 1 is undetermined at this time.
