Didn't he call for the end of the death penalty? The religious right isn't going to like that...

:thumb: Papa Fran!

The Pope is a paragon of brevity in comparison...

From Steve Cohen @repCohen on Twitter:

Coach #Cal is in the House for #PopeFrancis . Pope is the only person who recruits better than Cal.

And what a great honor it is... just imagine the long winded conversations that we have...Our back and forth emails with each other are near that of manifestos...

I say this in all sincerity that as soon as he was elected Pope I felt a sense that he was a kindred spirit. In fact his taken name is also my middle name which immediately gave me a good feeling about him. He has not disappointed, and I have great respect for him.

Dude does have a lot to say, but unsurprisingly I can completely relate to that. I've heard some express displeasure with some of the topics that he has addressed as if it's territory that he not entitled to contribute thoughts about, but for me a man of his utmost peaceful nature can speak of anything he wants and I'd sit like an attentive trusting baby bird being fed by the mother bird.

The world is truly blessed, no matter their religion, or no religion at all to have a man of such great peace and love walking among us. He walks the walk and talks the talk and nothing about it feels forced or fake.

He is a true man of peace and it's a beautiful gift to the world to have his presence and nature to guide us in these often hard times. He might just be the most important pope that there's ever been, and I say without hesitation that he has most certainly won my approval. His message is worth a listen, and his footsteps are worth following. He's a great example of what's right with this world.

Huh? :idunno:

First heard it from my niece who was studying in Roma.

My guess it's his call. I think I read he rides around Vatican City in a small ride.

I believe early on he was taking the bus to the Vatican and still living in his apartment. I'm sure that ticked off some Cardinals.

That's been the church's position for quite a while now and most religions tend to follow the same thought, including most that are considered "religious right". I believe Southern Baptists do not oppose the DP. I'm talking the official positions, not the nut cases in the streets.

Most religions, sure. I'm speaking more of the individuals that make up the religious right that profess themselves as Christian. The vast majority I've ever spoken with are hardcore supporters of the DP.

I'm not Catholic & I think it would be really cool to meet him. ;)
I'm not religious and I think it would be awesome to meet him. From what I know of him I like Pope Francis.

I'm lucky enough not to have had much interaction with individuals who would be considered the religious right. When I have the subject of the DP never came up as they were too busy trying to save me.
