I only bring him up for perspective because JOAT likes to hammer on the current coach and a lot of people are tired of it and ready to move on with the program under the new leadership. My point has been made and it will not be brought up again.

 

And your point was what exactly? If you want to move on then why you keep bringing it up? Records have absolutely nothing to do with the "issues" that exist, but I am the only one that really wants to speak about some of them. Record will be better when you water the schedule down and honestly it really does not matter unless you can make it to that regional final game and come out victorious. Lets see if you can hold yourself back from "bringing it up again"

How many Kentucky or Ohio South teams are in top level of MRL? 2? For the rest of them, they have to play in the KPL, regardless of their second

According to TEAM ELIGIBILITY Paragraph D. You are probably correct on certain MRL teams not needing the KPL if they request to be waived in.

Again, I'm not close to the program, but I think Tom Kearn's had a few good years. Didn't he win a regional title or two and a few district championships when the district was pretty tough? I also think he was part of taking the program to the next level when Nina was the "head coach".

 

I've had some interactions with BW, but I don't know squat about his coaching ability.

 

Just like any program, there are good years and bad years. If you're going to really compare the coaches, make sure you're looking at the athletes they had each year and be fair about the comparison. Win/loss record doesn't show the whole picture.

 

What's the saying the football team uses, something about standing on the shoulders of the players that came before them. Same goes for the coaches, the program wouldn't be where it is now without the coaches and supporting cast that came before them.

Agreed Tommy didn't have the best record but Nina's was very good and BW isn't in the same ballpark as her stats. Don't you think the constant subbing is a little like rec soccer? I know most people think the KPL is the top soccer in KY but all the best teams don't play in the kpl they play in mrl. BW club team does well in Kentucky but not in Ohio south or in tournaments outside of Kentucky.

 

I watched St Ursulain?? and Notre Dame play and they both did mass subbing. I watched Notre Dame play SK and both teams went really deep in their benches in a very highly contested game. So I guess your saying all those teams are rec level? Hmmm. Coach Cal must be a rec level coach because I think he subbed quiet a bit this past season and ended up with one of the best records of all time. So......

 

Club teams.... Really? You think his club team is a bad team because he is a parent coach. I'm assuming that's your reference. Let's explore this a little. If he is so bad then hopefully none of your kids play for Kings Hammer. They have been trying to hire him for years. Must be the poor resume he has built over the years.

 

His club team has played some of the teams in the top levels of MRL and actually won, and has lost a few. The real question is where is the KHA teams at the state cup? You keep referencing them but I couldn't find one of their teams placing higher than them. Last year the Kings Hammer Blue team only won one game in pool play and Wiefring went to the final 4. Again, who needs facts...

 

I'm not trying to say anything regarding the Kings teams. They are very good teams but I have to use them as a reference point since you seem to point out club teams.

Really does not matter if HHS wins or loses any games from now until regionals. Regardless of what their record is, they will be in the regionals. Between now and regionals they will face NDA (regular season game on Saturday) and NCC (district championship game). IMO, they will go 0-2 against them.

 

By the way, Just curious about your comments of the ho-hum performance. My stats show 18 shots for Highlands vs 2 for Cooper. I think HHS also had 4 shots off the posts that didn't go in. I'm not much of a stats guy but this certainly doesn't look like a ho-hum performance to me. Looks like a little bad luck for a young team.

 

By the way, the un-faithful should be happy. The starts for HHS played less than half the game! Seems like to me if he plays the starters they win big but we have to to hear how he played the wrong kids. Now he plays his bench and they win 2 - 0 in convincing fashion but its not good enough. Wow!!! Which is it?

Yes I think coaches who sub at almost every stoppage are rec like. High level club teams sub in groups and once a half. I get HS is a little different but as a coach you are disrupting the flow of your team when you sub constantly. Please are you really going to compare basketball and soccer substitution apples and oranges. You prove my point with the state tournament because the kha red teams won ohio state 16, 17, and 18 and the competition is much better top to bottom. The kings wanted his players for their teams and not so much the coach.

He teaches technical but not so great at game adjustments. In the end it's about the players you have and does the coach make them better as a team. We shall see in regionals.
