The Birds are now 6-6, roughly half way through the season. Does anyone have a first hand account of last evenings game?

A win is a win but not an impressive win. NDA and Campbell county both scored 5 against Cooper.

:popcorn: Do tell us what details you know of. Information that I received was not glowing, but hey a win is a win is a win. Only games that really matter are those in the regional tourney.

Really does not matter if HHS wins or loses any games from now until regionals. Regardless of what their record is, they will be in the regionals. Between now and regionals they will face NDA (regular season game on Saturday) and NCC (district championship game). IMO, they will go 0-2 against them.

I also know that the current coach now has an overall record of 18-15-1 for a winning percentage of 53%, while his predecessor, your buddy, Tommy, was 19-28-9 for winning total of just 33%. Playing his and your favorites didn't work out so well did it? So how about you tell me how great your bestie was again. Pass that popcorn this way, Pal.

I have seen the girls play a couple times this year and here is what I came away with, call it an outsiders perspective...

 

I saw quite a bit of talent at all 3 levels playing the same type system, can't compare it to what they might have had on the pitch the past couple of seasons, I don't know.

 

They are a pretty young team, this will lead to some inconsistent performances in the short term. Only beating Cooper 2-0, surprised me when they beat Ryle 4-1, I was not at both matches and the scoreline does not always tell the whole story. This is not to say that experienced teams are immune to these same inconsistencies, if that is actually what it was.

 

The coaches appear to have a plan in place to build a program at HHS, the foundation is in place, I think that they will be competing for regional titles over the next few seasons.

HHS is young and talented and the coaches are doing a very good job with the young talent it may not be this year, the jury is still out but I do credit the coaches for having such a young group of girls.

I guess you and his other Dad friends must see these stats through rose colored glasses if you consider his tenure a success.

I don't follow the soccer teams as much as others. When I've read through a few threads, you seem to keep bringing up Tom Kearn's record as head coach. I'm curious to understand what the issue was with him and why he's constantly compared to the current coaching staff.

Agreed Tommy didn't have the best record but Nina's was very good and BW isn't in the same ballpark as her stats. Don't you think the constant subbing is a little like rec soccer? I know most people think the KPL is the top soccer in KY but all the best teams don't play in the kpl they play in mrl. BW club team does well in Kentucky but not in Ohio south or in tournaments outside of Kentucky.

I only bring him up for perspective because JOAT likes to hammer on the current coach and a lot of people are tired of it and ready to move on with the program under the new leadership. My point has been made and it will not be brought up again.

You are wrong on the KPL. Again, the KPL is in its SECOND season. You HAVE to play in the KPL to be eligible for the State Cup. As a result, MRL teams are in the KPL (LFC, JAVANON, KHA). Their KPL games count as MRL games if the teams are in the same division of MRL. I don't know why KYSA decided that they needed to form a league that is impossible to schedule games in and tie State Cup invites into it, but they did. And again, it's only in its second year of existence and it contains MRL teams, and as a result is better than Buckeye State levels, not as good as MRL. It is like Pergatory.
