HCP, what is the status of RB Arnette for this game?

I am trying to get the honey-do's done so I can make this one!

I actually talked to his mother on Friday night, he has a MCL strain, initial projection was 2-4 weeks, Central Hardin has a bye next week and they are leaning toward keeping him out so that he can be fully healthy for the Collins game. They will see how he progresses this week and will make a final decision by thursday. Also, DL Alex Bibb was out this past week with a concussion and is questionable for the Bowling Green game

Central really struggles when the running game is not effective and they are forced to throw the ball. Stop Central's running game and you have a good chance of winning. Defense certainly carries this team. I am not sure they have enough horses to overcome Bowling Green but I doubt it will be a blowout

Both are important guys for CH! I hope they get healthy, but selfishly want BG to win obviously.

Really hope I get to go because I've never seen a game at CH before and it's also much closer than going to BG for a game. Good luck to your boys!

Thanks, good luck to you guys too. Always admired the Bowling Green program and what they have accomplished over the years, truly a formidable foe.

I would agree with this. I would think Arnette would make a BIG difference in this game, but for CH's season does this game REALLY matter that much? I would think they would want all horses going for district games in a couple weeks. If you don't mind, please continue those injury updates.:thumb:

I don't look for BG to blow out CH, but I do look for them to win. If CH has to throw, that will play into BGs hands as they have one of the better secondaries around.

RB Gavin Krupinski also left the game friday night with a sprained ankle. Central bye week comes at the right time for health reasons and to prepare for Meade County and North Hardin coming up in district play. Have teams had success in running on Bowling Green this year?

HCP, BG Defense vs The Run in 2015

vs 2A Monroe allowed 120 yards (this isn't a good example thought because Monroe is 2A)

vs 5A Christian County allowed 77 yards (but Christian focused on the pass because in that game they got behind and chose to pass more.)

vs 6A St X allowed 189 yards - worst half of football BG has played in many years, credit StX, they mixed it up and ran out of the shotgun all night, but did so effectively.

vs 5A Owensboro allowed 180 yards - O dedicated themselves to the run and did so pretty effectively. They have a very good line and good backs.

vs 4A Warren Central allowed 63 yards - my information says WC QB Shanklin improvised mostly for those yards as WC passed more effectively than ran.

SO, can you run against BG, I think the answer is yes, but you need a good scheme and a good line and a good couple of backs to do it because BG will make adjustments during the game, which typically are very effective.

How would you rate Bowling Green overall, in relation to the two teams Central lost to, Boyle County and South Warren, definately two teams that were not good matchups for Central Hardin, probably 2 of the top 5 defenses in the state, especially against the run.

If I'm greedy, I say BG is way better than both teams, but if I'm honest I think they would both be close games that would come down to OTHER things like turnovers, kicking game, halftime adjustments, and the like. All 3 teams are similar in a lot of regards. I have seen South play this year. I have never seen Boyle play, but respect others accounts of them. I would say BGs offense is a tick ahead of the other 2s and maybe a tick behind on defense. I may lose my Purple Card over saying this you realize. But what I like best about BGs defense is that they get better as the game wears on. So you better get your points early because Coach Spader is very good at making adjustment and shutting you down after that point.

Against St.X, BG played bad anyway you want to slice it in the first half, but at half time adjustments were made and in the second half BG gave up a punt return TD and a short field TD caused by an INT.

Against O, it was a ground and pound kind of game. A couple players switched positions in this game and made a big difference. O scored on a very nice drive to open the second half and didn't score again even though they were moving the ball and close to the red zone and etc.

I think Central Hardin matches up better because while BG's defense is still strong, they are definitely built to stop the pass moreso than the run. Being that Central Hardin leans heavily on the run, this should give them a bit more of a chance. That said, Bowling Green's offense is better than those other two, and especially is better than what South Warren was able to show with Litten injured.

While Central Hardin is still searching for that statement win, this game may not be worth starting some key injured players with a bye week looming.

If Central Hardin pulls this one off, Bruins run the table the rest of the way (in the regular season).

If Central Hardin loses to BG ... Bruins still run the table the rest of the way (in the regular season).

This is the worst Meade team in a while (but we kind of knew it would be. Folks knew it would be a struggle. It has been).

North Hardin needs a gut check.

Collins is an intriguing game, but if the Bruins believe they finally deserve a seat at the big-boy table, they better beat the Titans -- handily.

Woodford County has a good O-line, but that won't be enough to beat the Bruins.

Win against BG would be huge for Bruins. Especially confidence wise.

Lose and you've got three losses heading into your bye week (when you had none at this point last year and some believe this year's team would be BETTER than last year's team. Granted last year's regular-season schedule wasn't close to this year's).

But with some key guys banged up, further injury/soreness might not be a good idea (even with the bye week next week).

Meade rested guys late last year and it paid off.
